another song i really hate is "i just called to say i love you" this may not be the worst song ever but in comparing to his other efforts it's a very low point. at least the year after he released "overjoyed" which is my favorite song from him, that's called a great ballad.

Albeit far from his best effort, to put any of LSW's work on this thread seems mournful. I'd agree it became annoying with the repeated airplay, but surely not among the worst ever.

you are right Al, i was too critical and i just called isn't one of the worst songs ever, but it's still not a good song. i really like most of stevie's work and i think he is a genius, but every artist with big repertoire like his have creative downfalls sometimes.

Thanks Xan - I could blame my friend for this one but have to admit it's definately not to my liking. I think it particularly got to me for a few reasons, one you mentioned "The 80's".
Also the fact that Grace Slick was the voice of the 60's singing White Rabbit, this seemed more of an insult by contrast. She, like a lot of us, went down that embarrasing get a perm and visit a disco route.
Matanchik you were not born when this 'graced' our charts (ha ha - no pun intended).
The final insult was going to a festival and seeing Starship get booed off stage. Like I said the 80's were not my favourite time.
Just out of interest wasnt "I just called to say I love you" and "Lady in Red" all from the 80's.......? Do I feel a theme in the air?
Back on an edit: AND Afternoon Delight (80s!)

Moving on...''Afternoon Delight'''s gotta be on everyone's bottom 10. The song that is. ;D Don't forget ''Muskrat Love'' - Yuk! (:::having a deja vu moment....have we duplicated this thread?? : ) Maybe not exactly the same, but we did have this conversation. I mentioned Muskrat Love last time and asked you what it was. I don't think you ever did answer me... ;D

Paul Kantner (original member) gave the camera the finger when mentioning this song in an interview about Airplane? That's pretty good from a man was writing about flying saucers.

One of the songs that I really did like that Grace did during the 80s was 'Face to the Wind' - it was so powerful. But, in general, I stick to my guns on the 80s thing, it wasnt a good time for music in my opinion. I'm coming back later with more favourite dislikes - ooooh, this is fun "Save your love my darlink save your luuuuurve" (remember that one)? OUCH

"Save your love my darlink save your luuuuurve" (remember that one)? OUCH Oh right thanks very much Laura.. I'd finally just managed to forget all about "Save Your Love" by Renee & Renata, and then you go and drag it all up again! Now I'm going to have to go back into therapy..

Not all the worst songs was recorded during the 80's. Who can forget the horrible song of baha men that topped the charts not too long ago: "who let the dogs out who who who" These guys should've listen to kate to hear how a good dog song should sound like ( ;D j\k). another awful song from the 90's is the super cheesy "macarena" that dominated the 1997 summer.

This is hardly very seasonal but I missed Christmas on this forum so forgive me. My message of doom however can't be ignored.......when Slade brought out "Here it is Merry Christmas" the whole "festivitivies" went sour for me. I physically cringe when Noddy shouts out ITS CHRRRRRRRRRISTMMMMMMMAAAAAAAS when I'm doing my shopping. I could, quite frankly, hit him over the head with a frozen turkey. I'm quite serious about this - it sucks

But, in general, I stick to my guns on the 80s thing, it wasnt a good time for music in my opinion. Oh, I'd argue that. ;D The 80's just invented making bad music fast. There was plenty of terrible music in the 60's and 70's, even 90's. It's just been allowed to die a reasonable death. The 80's stuff is just played constantly. A suggestion for your consideration: MAMBO #5! Aghhhh! That was played in every commercial that summer... from burgers to sitcoms!

This could almost be revived for a new 'tacky song' thread e.g. A little bit of ketchup on my fries Theresa Heinz' John Kerry's wife A little bit of Bush goesa long long way Talkin bout George, of course not Kate....

You got me Xan ! I guess it's just I didnt like the 80's in general, music, fashion, politics, you name it, I didnt like it I'm getting better ;D RA I guess if I had to find something good about that era it would be Band Aid - a turn around for morality perhaps and at last Sir Bob making us realise we can stand for something positive and good.

i remember i heard not alot of time ago a track by some afro-american singer i can't remember her name now that was really awful and it's lyrics were like taken straight from a porn site or something like that. i think it was called: "my neck, my beck, my pussy and my crack"
