And, to be fair, a proper ambiance will be established before I push 'play' Ha, I hope proper ambience doesn't involve anything illegal. j/k 'depends on where you live. But, nothing that exciting. My altered states now days are spiritually induced. Your CD just arrived today \o/ !! As I promised, I gave it undivided attention in a comfortable environment. What a wonderful album! From the samples, I knew a bit of what to expect. However, my two favorites after one revolution are ones that I hadn't heard samples of (or at least not in a long while). "Miss Scylla" hooked me right away. The jazz hints, P.J. Harvey-ish percussive elements and then especially the quirky and duet vocals made it an immediate favorite. Nice work . And then "Jellybean" was a pleasant surprise. 'Not sure if you've sampled this one (I'll have to check) If you had I may have skipped it because of the title. I'm still not crazy about it as a song title - but what do I know. ;D I'm just weird about stuff like that. That being said - I loved the song. It is a melody that seems familiar right away. It has an infectious quality that makes you want to hear it again...'more later after I get to know it better. But I really enjoy it thus far. EDIT - update....'marvelous keyboard prowess.

Oh, wow! That's fantastic. I hope you won't be disappointed. Very happy you like Carrol 21st. Not many people heard it and I never really heard any comment/feedback on it. :-) Ah well then, I'll try to say a little more about it... and really this applies to all the songs I've listened to - what I like most about them is their, well... overall sound, production (heh) and performance. I like them for being all over the place, both musically, with the brief moments of chimes, bells and violin (I'm guessing now however that it's backing vocals exclusively and not violin) of Carrol as examples, and vocally (both main and backing) and yet not losing sight that a discernable melodic structure is sometimes a good thing. That's what bugs me the most about many alt/indie acts - their fear of sounding good. Yah, with the exception I guess of the 15 second(?) Rainmaker I give a big unqualified thumbs up.

Sorry for a late answer. Believe it or not - I'm a dummy. :B Had this thread bookmarked and a shortcut to it on my desktop, so I was glancing at once in a while to see if you've heard the CD yet.... and, well, nope, nothing new would pop up. And then OF COURSE, I noticed there's another PAGE of the thread. (*slaps forhead*) Anywho! I'm really psyched that you liked both Miss Scylla and Jelly bean (it's sometimes called Jellybean Lullaby, would that sound better? ;-)

Thanks very much. I try to record a bulk of 'christmassy' tunes every year (well, I haven't last year, but the year before and then another year back - I did. Mostly Polish carrols, but also others, and this was the first time I dared to add something myself. Not very cheerful, but that's how I feel about the season, sometimes. ;-) Wait... Rainmaker has 15 seconds? (*goes and checks what's going on*)

So is the alternative title. Don't mind me. I'm a bit quirky on occasion. I'm really enjoying your album BTW...
