Ok Al I have now listened to a few (more on this in a bit) songs, whole and sampled, and I like her very much - at least I think I do. My favorite song that I've heard form her is the cover of London Calling which is quite an odd one - kinda spooky and cabaret-like! I have had a very hard time finding songs from her which I can hear. I wonder if she is concerned with becoming more known... I believe she is the first artist I have searched for at Allmusic which has yielded zero results. Her website proper has a few samples yet no full length songs which can be either downloaded or simply listened to (the London Calling cover i found while poking around the message board.) She has some samples of songs on a site that you have to register to in order to hear - pfft. I visited her myspace page which does have both a player and downloadable songs - except that the player wouldn't play and the songs wouldn't download. Well, I have been having sporadic problems and perhaps it is here that the problem lies with the myspace page. But regardless, bah c'mon... on the site she should give a little to get a little. That said, the little (a key word) I've heard intrigues me. Al, do you have any of her albums? Is there one in particular that you recommend? Oh, and while looking at a catalogue of Demarczyk songs I noticed this one: babuszka-tzvetaievEDIT: I just looked for her at Amazon - nothing. She must not be with a label - or if she is she might as well not be.

My favorite song that I've heard form her is the cover of London Calling which is quite an odd one - kinda spooky and cabaret-like! "Somewhere between a smoky piano-bar and a dark baroque church" is how her sound has been described. With influences such as Kate and Tori and even Iron Maiden that she has admitted to, she is nonetheless an original and gifted talent. Try CD Baby : HERE There are some 2 minute samples that give a clear idea of the albums. You can order her work on-line there too. A link to her website is also listed. (Also check out a link provided to 'Reba Hasko' - more on her later. I was intrigued by some of her samples) I had looked in stores before and honestly had meant to go on line and purchase, but until now I never remembered to do so. However I did order her newest one @ CD Bay just now. (minutes ago ) For $9.00 it is a good buy. Kulka or Demarzyk?

Yeah, I had tried this earlier but the samples won't play for me. I think I may have figured why this is so - but I don't want to mess with any settings right now. I'll try again soon. OK. Re: Babuszska Demarczyk. I doubt there's any connection to Kate's song other than for them using a similar name - but it caught my eye.

Hang Tight. I invited Gabriela to visit this thread (and the forum) 'Just now heard back from her and she said she would post some samples for us! No that wasn't my question. I meant who did you think did not have a label? But that matters little to me anyway. I'd much rather discover a 'find' than wait 'til the hype reaches me.

Hang Tight. I invited Gabriela to visit this thread (and the forum) 'Just now heard back from her and she said she would post some samples for us! What a sweetheart! Kulka. If she does have a label then I can't figure out what it is doing. And yeah, I agree with the sentiment - I first heard Regina before she had signed to a label. Her first two albums were self-produced. Actually the third (Soviet Kitsch) was also self-produced but then it was re-issued after she signed to a label.

Hello guys. :-) It's really nice of you, Al, to invite me and point to this conversation, so as soon as I was able to redeem myself as far as the "lack-of-samples-online" question is considered... here I am. Thankyou very much for your attention. I'm happy the little that is available online has sparked your interest in my music, so to clarify things a little - I don't have a label or a representation of any sort, at the moment. To put this plainly, I'm an interior designer with two jobs, THEN there is music. heh .;-) I've been writing and playing for around 6 years now, aside from a bunch of my own songs and covers of varyingly bad sound quality ;-), I've recorded an album called "Between Miss Scylla and a Hard Place", three years ago. I am now finishing my work on a brand new album, which will be (I'd like to think so, at least) something of an improvement as far as overall sound and production is concerned. It's called "Out" and should be so at the end of August. Now, I must truly beat my chest about temporary lack of mp3s online. You're right about this, of course, it was rather ridiculous. I had a huge bunch of them on IUMA.com, which was a nice place, until it died. (yeah, and so is life. ;-)) I didn't really take the time to upload the older stuff to any new destination, and the lack has been pointed out to me a few weeks back. So for a while now I've been trying to make up for this as speedily as possible. I'm proud to say it is pretty much finished: If you go to the "mp3" part of the website now, you'll find quite a lot of whole songs. (well, nearly 30 if you count the live stuff and covers) gabakulka.com/eng/index-news-eng.htmSo I hope you can find something to your liking there. :-) Oh, and 'London Calling' is also my favourite at the moment. All my love for Danny Elfman flows in its veins. ;-) The new album should sound a little similar to this, although it has a more prelevant jazzy element to it, here and there. Once again, thankyou for your kind attention, and sorry for a lengthy post. PS. I like Ewa Demarczyk enormously, but I don't think there's any connection to La Bush. ------------------------ gabakulka.com

Thank you so much Gaba for your time and effort here. It looks as though you've updated your site just for us. What more could you ask. I had no trouble at all accessing the samples that you provided. Hopefully others will stop by and perhaps purchase a CD. My copy of "Between Miss Scylla and a Hard Place" should arrive in a day or two. I'm looking forward to hearing it. And please don't hesitate to visit with us and share your thoughts about Kate and all things truthful. I do enjoy your contributes @forumz. There is a link on my signature here to there and from there to here. The respect for my request you've shown is truly appreciated. Best Wishes on the new album.

.........Oh, and 'London Calling' is also my favourite at the moment. All my love for Danny Elfman flows in its veins. ;-) The new album should sound a little similar to this, although it has a more prelevant jazzy element to it, here and there. I must say that I am enamored with this cut as well. The delicate music box melody is juxtaposed to the heaviness of the subject matter. It is quite eerie and magical. The melodic leaps in the vocal are masterfully accomplished...... And if you need a glowing review for a sleeve give me a buzz... ;) Also I enjoy a jazz influence in much of my music. It is one reason I like "Aerial" as much as I do. I have followed Peter Erskine (the drummer on most of 'Sky") for a couple of decades. The intricate measures of time and flow make jazz more receptive to a seasoned ear. The musicianship and unity, when done right, combine for a wonderful experience. ------------------------

Thank you so much Gabriela, for taking the time to come and visit us ~ most generous of you.
I look forward to exploring some more of your mp3 files. For now, and limited in time, I listened just to your version of "London Calling". A stunning and entirely original interpretation, with a whiff of pre-fascist German night clubs and their darker corners. Quite superb..
Best of luck in your endeavours. Music of this quality and retro originality deserves to be heard. If I ever get to Warsaw, I'll check your concert diary!
Thanks also to Al for extending the invitation..

It looks as though you've updated your site just for us. What more could you ask. Well, it certainly made me speed up finishing the work on it. I couldn't have uploaded all that stuff in one go, unfortunately, lol. But I simply hope some of it may prove interesting, and I'm grateful for your attention given to my music. Cheers. :-) Let me know when the record arrives and what you think of it, if you have a minute!

Thank you so much Gabriela, for taking the time to come and visit us ~ most generous of you. The pleasure is all mine, of course! And thankyou for your kind words. I hope the new-NEW stuff from the album will be as pleasing as London Calling, although I admit that sometimes it's hard to top the covers. One feels a certain freedom with them that does not come as easily with one's own material. Strange but true. Let me know if you ever plan to go to Warsaw! Concerts can always be arranged. I mostly play very small clubs and jazz cafes and that's not as much organization.

Oh, wow! That's fantastic. I hope you won't be disappointed. Very happy you like Carrol 21st. Not many people heard it and I never really heard any comment/feedback on it. :-)
