Not technically a 'just bought' CD, because I've been waiting three weeks for it to be delivered but in the post this morning I recieved a copy of The Crusher by Amon Amarth. Swedish melodic death metal style music with songs involving Viking lore and the like Quality! ;D

For something a bit less scary, I went with Dusty Springfield - "Dusty in Memphis" A bit dated maybe but her unique voice and the wonderful orchestral arrangements make this a great album.

Ah, that I can relate to. Have you been enjoying it? I recently pared down the 3 disc anthology into one more accessible 80 minute CD, chronologically of course. Sometimes a box set can be a little more than you need. Did you get the remaster with like 25 bonus tracks? Windmills is one of my faves on that one, but I also like Don't Forget About Me and In The Land Of Make Believe. My other faves are What's It Gonna Be, I Close My Eyes, and Magic Garden. As for myself... I have been on a bit of a spending spree since the holidays, so there's too many to mention. But I just received the Miklos Rozsa rare score for Hitchcock's Spellbound.... I'm so thrilled! Great use of the theremin. I'm waiting for a few jazz scores, so I'll report back when they come.

Ah, that I can relate to. Have you been enjoying it? Oh I'm loving it. (I sound like a cheesy McDonald's ad) I heard a segment on her approved biography last week on NPR. They played some of her music that brought back some good memories. I actually found a promotional copy that was never played. And there are 25 tracks. I will get back to you on the specifics though, 'cos I've been playing it only in the car without referring to the tracks. But I think her voice is so uniquely wonderful - so full of character and nuance. Sounds good. I know how you love soundtracks. I've also bought quite a few recordings recently. Besides Dusty - VH1 "Storytellers" Dave Bruebeck Box set Edwin Collins and several I've already mentioned.

Pogues: the Ultimate Collection (a snip at £4) and before that Clannad: Magical Ring. Got a bit of an Irish folk-pop thing going on.

Ghost In The Machine - The Police (on an 80's kick lately) Good album. I bought it when it was new. I especially liked "One World" and "Walking on the Moon" edit - "Walking on the Moon" not on the album. It was released on my birthday in '81 (which I share with Sting month day and year)
