Bitter Sherbet
Take your seat With the connoisseurs In front of the voluminous platter of life
Sit at the table With a mug of light Grin your way through the feast
Tickle your tastebuds With all that is there Ah... Bitter sherbet.

It's a fine day Go out at last Not burdened by hate - nor all that has past
My open smile Will give you strength To keep on walking - but never forget.

Memories
leap out from the shadows yell 'BOO' with all their might I can't get them to go away on these dark, cold nights

Escape
Now that it's over you can't stand up Cold and silent but you still breathe The pain is past now you are here what will be must be. ~a. fern. p

Dear Mum
I know why you did it I know what you thought I really don't care Just how good the life was You though you were invincible After all this time I have just one question For my peace of mind Was it a child for each partner? A memory of love? Or a man for each child To spread out your genes? Was it all just charades? Or the way that it seemed?

Within
Inside this construct of hate and fear hope does not exist there is only strength determination to fight to grab at shadows overcoming pain? or fighting sanity?

Opulence, splendour, delusions of grandeur Thoughts of a separate form taking root in his mind Many buds of unseen flowers called to re-reference In this biblical library of the humankind.

Skating on ice it's all I see a frozen lake of all that's past a lake of years of misery skating on thoughts of what to do empower myself for liberty? skating towards the citadel of life before this frozen hell.

Ooooh, yes. That is a good one, Adena. I hope you're not as depressed as the poem makes you sound, but it is an excellent piece. I also love the opening line of the previous poem: Opulence, splendour, delusions of grandeurthat has a great flow. Also "Bitter Sherbet" is very good. I am prone to understatement, so if I say something is good then you'd better believe it's good! --Paul--

I was just writing down things which sounded giant and elegant... ;D Thanks.

Sweet honey Dear baby Come closer to me Your touch is an ocean Of tiny calm Your cry is a quagmire Of unlived life Your smile is a sea In which I'm lost You have my love I have your trust.

Sweet honey Dear baby Come closer to me Your touch is an ocean Of tiny calm Your cry is a quagmire Of baby life Your smile is a sea In which I'm lost You, at least Love me. I very much like the "lover as an ocean" metaphor. I'd have used "newborn" rather than "baby" in line 6, but maybe that's just me. --Paul--

No hidden metaphors there. And I'm not done with it yet, I just had to get the idea down before I lost it.
