As for the Sex in the City comment, sorry it's lost on me. I never watched that show, so I don't know if that's funny, teasing or insulting? You won't have a clue what I'm talking about then I guess! The couple were called Miranda & Steve. She was a professional woman in a legal company and he was a barman. Needless to say, I was not trying to be insulting. I loved the show. It was unbelievably near the knuckle and at times extreme. But I was never offended by it. The last episode was screened here about a month ago. I will really miss it. Ditto Frasier, the final episodes of which are now being shown in the UK

You won't have a clue what I'm talking about then I guess! Through cultural osmosis I do. You really couldn't escape that show for the last several years. I know now enough of what you were thinking, but didn't watch the show to pick up on the reference immediately. I don't know if I could pick which female I related to on that show, but probably not Samantha. But, I picked my life "sitcom", only not starring Paul Reiser. ;D ;D I used to really like Frasier, but I hadn't watched it much in the last several years. Actually, I don't really watch television. Mostly films.

Television, I agree Zan, is becoming ever more boring. even the premium channels lack the writing talent and performances that seem to be found mostly in independent films nowdays. Documentaries, history programs and interviews are my favorite television fare now. I can proudly say, I do not watch any sitcoms or reality series.

I realize TV is crap now, but the George Lopez show cracks me up! Don't take sitcoms out on George Lopez, that man is hilarious! ;D

Tv here in England is very shit. All we have is a constant barrage of reality, make over, property, soaps, and programs based on british yobs and slags going to a spanish resort to get laid and completely rat arsed.
I haven't actually watched TV properly for about 3 years now. I'll stick with my DVD's thank you.

The only thing worse about American TV is that those shows (above) are cheap rip-offs of the British originals. i.e. Changing Rooms becomes Trading Spaces. Just like a few years ago Ab Fab (love that show) became Cybil, without any edge. I guess they've been doing it for years - like Three's Company.

One of the best US sitcoms (IMHO) 'Married With Children' once got the make over here in the UK. It was retitled 'Married For Life', recycled episodes from the first three series and sunk quicker than the titanic. It lacked the edge of the original. I think it's better if each Country keeps to their own style of humour. Only very rarely does a programme from one country catch on in another. Btw, am I the only person here who thinks that friends is not at all funny?
