"The Random Thread" at another forum I post at is very popular, and is the most active thread on that forum. Members use it like a chat room, talking about what they're doing, how they feel, and jusy plain clowning around.
So come on in, kick your shoes off, put on some nice music and be random!

Not sure it's random - but going to see TAmos in London tomorrow night. I've never seen her before so very excited. (Although I'm probably not meant to say that here.) That reminds me of a point I was going to make ages ago but forgot about. I'll post it somewhere around once I've gathered evidence.
How's Adey?

You can post about Tori Amos here. I happen to be a big Tori Amos fan myself, and am green with envy that you are going to see her in concert!

I have decided to have a vegetable garden. Does anyone here grow vegetables?

Hi Kevin2. It's been a while.
We're growing corn for the first time.

Hey Grimm!
Good luck on the corn. Let me know how it progresses.
I'm probably not going to plant anything until after this next winter. When did you plant the corn? Are you planting in the ground or in a trough-like container? I had it suggested to me to use a container, and I think I will try this first. Do you have any pets? Are they attracted to the corn? I am not so sure that I will be able to prevent my cat from, well, being a cat.
Have you had any problems with bugs? I have a lot of snails here and I have heard that they can be ruinous to a garden. Are you using earthworms? I have heard that they can be garden lifesavers.

Here's a picture of our tiny garden taken today. The corn was planted from seed, just as an experiment. Kind of a fun thing to do, as we've never grown veggies before. It's in the back, along the blue wall of the shed.
It was planted the first week of June. The dirt is a topsoil / compost "garden" mix I had delivered (3 cubic yards dumped in my driveway) Suprisingly, the rabbits and other wild critters have stayed away. Slugs haven't been too active this year. Aside from a nightly watering, the corn hasn't gotten any special treatment. Just planted in the dirt, with a 1"- 2" layer of mulch on top.edit: the garden faces west-southwest, so it gets full sun from mid-morning 'till sunset!)

I'm changing my username to "Gelid", but you can call me Charlie if you like.
Got a few new members since I've been gone, I see. I've done a lot of soul searching, thought about a lot of stuff, and just generally mellowed out. I'm not nearly as opinionated as I was before.

I don't know if you know what I'm talking about but when I was little my mum used to go to this shop for things like dried fruit, seeds, cereals - health foods I suppose you'd call them - very '70's. It was based on a trust thing because there was no staff you'd just leave the money and whenever I went with her there was never anyone about except an old chicken. Each time things had been moved, a few empty jars were standing around or maybe the sultana jar had been topped up, the chicken might have laid an egg in the outside loo if you were lucky, that sort of thing. Well, this is EXACTLY like it! I feel like I could do something really naughty and no-one would see it! Like when you find your the only person on the floor of your office and you get the urge to moon out of the window. Anyway, it's just the reason why I should post more I guess. And we must get a chicken.
