i also don't know how to change a title of a thread. If you click 'modify' on your post that opened this thread, then that should enable you to edit the title. No suggestion what to though, LoL ;D

Ah....I'm listening to Ride of the Valkyries and Overture to the Barber of Seville under the baton of Maestro Bugs Bunny. from Loony Tunes Productions. (a low-brow day for me ) ;D LOL ;D Yes, an excellent cartoon - remember it well. Bugs is in formal black/white evening attire doing incredible things with his pointy stick.. Vis a vis the Beethoven, I was able to acquire the full 9 symphonies in a boxed CD set - all by the legendary Berliner Philharmoniker/Abaddo, on the mighty Deutsche Gramophon label for the measly sum of £20, when I went away for the New Year. A purist would have bought the same set on vinyl for £5 less, (also in the shop) but I can't be dealing with LPs in this day and age. Given that I'm still on no1, you can see that I'm making famous progress..

Bugs is in formal black/white evening attire doing incredible things with his pointy stick.. ;D I wasn't actually listening to it - but I do love it, and found it a fitting reply. And played it on an vintage analog amp with temperamental tubes - so every hiss and juicy, fat sound was extracted.

. I may listen to 6 hours or more of music everday. I also like to listen to music a long time of the day. My parents often complaining that i'm listening too much, maybe because i almost never see them enjoying music now playing: David Bowie - Silly Boy Blue

So nice to find PJ Harvey fans. I love her music and "Down by the Water" was the first one that attracted me to her particular sound.
I listen to quite a bit of music mostly in the KA or on headphones infront of a TV that rarely shows anything of interest unless I pop in a DVD. Right now it's Brian Wilson's SMiLE at The Royal Festival Hall, London yet again.

Just bought the box set "This Woman's Work" from HMV Oxford Street as I lost my original vinyl collection in the house fire in 1999. Currently listening to the 12" singles CD. I love this woman!

I just finished listening to the PBS broadcast of the 1982 performance of Ravel's ''La Valse'' as performed by Martha Argerich and Nelson Friere. Absolutely the most moving and powerful keybaord work I've ever heard. 'Almost like making love - It was that good. She is by far my favorite pianist. These two are schedeled to perform at Carniege Hall in late March. I dare you to download some of her music and not be blown away. Here is an example of her virtuousity and touch: Chopin's Sonata # 3 in B Minor - presto non tanto

Thank you so much for the link. I was speaking to friends over the weekend about preferred music and I said I love piano mostly. I've always been quite into heavy rock in the progressive sense but the balance of this has been piano pieces (but generallly modern). I often hear classical piano on the radio but never really know what I've been listening to or what to ask for.
I'm listening to some very jazzy kind of stuff from Mike Keneally at the moment and would love to find more of the same style as he's poured over into classical of late, using orchestral arrangements.
I love it.

I saw Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea back in the 70s. It was more 'funk' from what I can remember - certainly Chick Corea was anyway. Lots of thumb slapping bass and to be honest a bit dull for my taste at the time.
I do appreciate good musicians though as long as they don't get overly self absorbed and remember they have an audience who can doze if pushed.
I've posted a link to Mike Keneally in "linkinpark"- you have to shop around for the piano work as he varies from heavy rock to beautiful ballads and is quite diverse. Worth a try I think.
