I spent most of today mixing Kate, Suzanne Vega and Loreena McKennitt with Epica, Xandria and Nightwish. I was struck by the contrast between the 'alternative opera' of the three symphonic bands and the simplicity of Suzanne and Loreena (I may attempt to expound on this later). I have listed the most memorable tracks from today below...
Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights (my English teacher has a particular fondness for this song and was playing it when I arrived) Epica - Memories (cover of the song from 'Cats') Suzanne Vega - Thin Man Loreena McKennitt - The Stolen Child Nightwish - Angels Fall First Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner Xandria - India Xandria - The Lioness (this one always sticks; I only recently explored Xandria properly and this is very probably my favourite of theirs) Loreena McKennitt - All Souls Night Kate Bush - And So Is Love Epica - Feint Nightwish - Swanheart Suzanne Vega - The Queen and the Soldier Xandria - Ravenheart Loreena McKennitt - Full Circle Kate Bush - Sunset (in honour of someone...)

Stevie Wonder. A lot of Stevie Wonder... was there a more accomplished artist of the 70's? Songs in the Key of Life alone could last many good artists a lifetime of acclaim when spread throughout 4 or 5 otherwise mediocre albums.

His talent seems effortless and his rhythm and acumen remarkable.
