What I wanted to say in the chat room yesterday Zan was my admiration for the American Constitutional idea of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Yes there are many negative experiences within the USA, yet the idea of freedom inspires the human being like nothing we've dreamed of before. Diversity makes for strength by generating a rich enviroment that enables new ideas and forms to take root that would otherwise never see the light of day.
Sure, Americans can learn from other cultures around the world; what the world is learning from America is that great power is formed when individuals and organisations are given the freedom to pursue their goals unhindered by too much governmental restraint. Yes, there are certain codes of conduct that must be adhered to and this must be kept under constant review. However, the freedom to realise our dreams gives us more energy than any artificial stimulant.
There is always a question that comes up like, "Should we be free to commit murder or theft or any such crimes? Whatever your religion or belief system, by putting yourself in the shoes of any victim can give you a sense of why these things are better confined to the movie screen. When we focus on better understanding of each other and how we can contribute, then an even more positive experience can be had.
