What a SHOCK! This latest project of Kate's will be his last (completed??) I feel so badly for his friends and family. I especially feel horrible for Kate Bush, having read of how Bill Duffield's death influenced her. SAD, SAD DAY.

He certainly has an impressive list of credits. A very unfortunate loss.

He certainly has an impressive list of credits. Yes he did, August. I've been reading about some of them just now because of your post, and in light of his recent work with Kate. He had written a saxaphone concerto for David Sanborn (a favorite jazz sax player) that I was unaware of. He was conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra's string section (for Kate's new album) less than a week ago. He has a wife and 2 daughters. His father is 87 years old. He however lived a full and productive life. A multiple Oscar and Grammy winner, he has worked with SO many greats...Bowie, Annie Lennox, Metallica just to name a diverse few.

This is indeed a sad circumstance, He however, I don't think, was an Oscar winner. He had several nominations. Also, he was reportedly working on Kate's project in October, not last week. I do wonder, though, if he wrapped up his contributions, or, if not, whom might Kate use to complete his role.

Oh my, this was the first I've heard about this. And I was just posting about him under NEWS! I wonder how this is going to affect Kate, personally and musically? What a terrible loss... what is going on lately?

I was really saddenned when I heard this news. I really only first heard of him last week in the info about Kate 8, but looking through the credits of Kate's previous albums I realised what fantastic songs he was responsible for orchestrating. He'll definitely be missed by the world of music and I'm sure Kate is very upset by the news.
