Thank you all SO much for the positive thoughts! You are wonderful! This is probably the first post since at that happened. I have been here this week, trying to catch up with the posts. It's good to see some of you back here. You were missed too! I didn't even know this was a thread about me until today! I will certainly try to keep up next week. My life has just been very hectic recently. Thankfully, some of the fires are under control this weekend and most everyone I know has been fine. There are so many lives that have been affected, that the relief is melancholy. Xanadu

Zan, I haven't been around either and was unaware of your predicament. I hope things continue to improve for you and those around you. I know what you need - a new Kate album!

Thanks Sto'! It's good to have you back. I hope you are feeling better. This may seem corny, but perhaps some of you have had experiences like this, and can understand. This was a terrribly changing experience for me. I have never seen anything like this before, and I feel differently about my possessions and my life. And not necessarily in a traditional way. When I came home, the air quality was terrible. Sort of like a thick fog where you could only see a few feet, but this was orange and grey smoke and ash. I had this thought in my head: "Being born again Into the sweet morning fog. D'you know what? I love you better now..." It's one of those experiences I would like Kate to know about. Those words came into my thoughts as I drove into my town. I'm sure some of you have had some you'd like to share. It's quite profound the effect an artist can have on you, and unfortunate that you can't tell them what they mean to you personally.

Glad to hear you're ok Zan! I wasn't aware that you were involved in all this until I read this thread... wasn't sure whereabouts you were from. Great to have you back though

Hi Xan, this is the first I've been aware of your terrible experience. The nearest I came to this is when my house burnt down in 1999. We lost everything, but my family were ok.
Having a whole community affected must have seemed like a war zone. Life's perspectives do change in such a crisis. I send my love and hopes for you to work towards a feeling of "normality" if you know what I mean.

That must be terrible to lose one's home like that. My heart goes out to all those people who had to go through that terrible ordeal.
