As you all might know (and if you didn't you do now ;D) I'm a big fan of both Kate Bush and Tori Amos, I found this site a while back and this guy has some pretty interesting things to say about both ladies, and lots of other things besides, thought I'd share www.furia.com/twas/twas0053.htmlEnjoy!

Thanks MS (? trying to decide how to abrev ) I love it when people share links here. There were some great observations made therein. The evolution of Kate has been a much visited topic on this board. Where she's been and where she's going etc. The fact of her recording new vocals for 'Wuthering Heights ' is evidence of her own recognition of her vocal maturation. However there is a pristine clarity to her first two albums. The 'Kick Inside' I would argue to be as good a debut, in every aspect, as any that I'm aware of. I also agree with the author about the strength of Tori Amos. The other artists and observations I will have to investigate further. Thanks for sharing. I will respond again to this thread soon.

OK. On second reading I picked up a few more items to comment on. The nuances of Tori's voice being compared to the ever growing complexities of the 'Mandelbrot Set' was fascinating. I had independently made that analogy on another thread. (not about Tori though) That's a pretty bold statement though. I would suggest that the voices of KD Lang, and Sade fall in that category as well. But there is more to an artist than depth and complexity. Which leads me to reject the some of the authors other recommendations. e.g. 'Big Country'. My praise of Tori Amos is forthcoming. Let me read this article again and listen to some of my Tori CD's first.
