Thanks for the intel. I will check out your recommendations. It was Paula Cole who performed live with Peter Gabriel, singing the refrain 'Don't Give Up' (originally recorded by Kate Bush.) She did a good job. I prefer Kate's voice however. ALTRUEST,
I am unsurprised by either revelation.
MS. PAULA COLE nailed MS. SINEAD O'CONNOR'S harmony & vocal timbre when she sang "TALK TO ME" as a duet with him on the SECRET WORLD LIVE tour, where she also nailed MS. KATE BUSH'S part - to my ear, @ least.

I have two of Sarah Brightman's CD's. 'Classics' and 'A Whiter Shade Pale' (a cool video/screen saver comes w/the package.) I like Ms. Brightman's work. She has worked with Andrew Lloyd Weber (they were married I think?) Her voice has great range. If not for Kate's work, I would not have developed an interest in Ms. Brightman's music. Kate's multi-talents still outclass the rest of the field. But, short of a new release; artists such as Sarah Brightman, Loreena McKinnett, etc. will help fill the void. AL,
Thanks for the intel!
I shall investigate MS. SARAH BRIGHTMAN & her music @ the earliest opportunity, based upon your endorsement.

I downloaded the 'Peter Gabriel/Sarah Brightman' version of 'Don't Give Up'. I was amazed at how completely different it is to the 'Kate' version LORI,
"Curiouser & curiouser...!"

I just did not understand the term 'not a patch'.
I will agree that there is no comparison to Ms Brightman to Kate Bush.

Oh right I thought you were just trying to say you were a big fan. But yeah, that's exactly what it means. There's no camparison. I thing it just means that she's not even a little patch of Kate. Erm, I know what it means...just hard to explain, hehe

Malcolm,
From what you've said about your musical tastes; I bet Ms Brightman won't be edgy enough for you. Her voice is beautiful; however her material ranges from pop to classical, with no real trademark sound. NNPH. Let me know if I'm right.

I like Sarah Brighrman as well. My favorite of her CDs is Time To Say Goodbye. It would be interesting to have a discussion regarding the differences between the singing style of Miss Brightman and our Kate.....

I agree that Ms.Brightman is a beautiful person with an incredible voice. It may be difficult for me to compare her to Kate Bush. Ms.Bush is truly an innovator. Her gifted writing, her expressive dancing, her risk taking - all these elements combined with her powerfully unique voice and all out delivery of the goods, separate her from anyone else in my opinion. Ms Brightman is talented to be sure; but, most of her material is written by someone else. She seems to be unsure of which direction her music should go. The next best thing to Kate Bush for me would be Loreena McKennitt. I would be interested in anyone's thoughts on including Ms. McKennitt in the mix.
