Despite being a KB fan of about a million years standing, a lot of these tracks are quite new to me (thanks Lori ). However, I'm going for: Running Up That Hill/Gilmour. Mna Na H-Eireann. My Lagan Love. One Last Look Around The House Before We Go. Ran Tan Waltz. [confused about December Will Be Magic Again - It was an extra track on the Love & Anger CD single, but surely it was a vinyl A side single in it's own right?]

Sto' I'm suprised you piled all these together instead of TWW one and two, and then the covers, and projects. But, from your list:
* Under the Ivy" * Wuthering Heights (new vocal) * Be Kind to My Mistakes * Experiment IV * Ne T'en Fui Pas
It's strange because I listened to all of these ( TWW 1 and 2 that is ) on my recent road trip. "Under the Ivy" is powerfully emotional. My least favorite may be, sorry lori, "Burning Bridge".

Al', I could have done all that but to be honest, I think it would be too long-winded. This way we can select the very best, and not just the best depending on which CD they happened to land up on. And you didn't answer my "Wuthering Heights" question Al'! (see earlier post...) My least favourite is "Burning Bridge" too!

..... you didn't answer my "Wuthering Heights" question Al'! (see earlier post...) Oh, sorry. I probably would not of thought to add it here since it was on "TWS" But, after giving it consideration, it does make sense to allow it to compete on it's own with these other's. Especially if you're including "Experiment IV" here, in leiu of a "TWS" vote. I'm surprissed she let it out of the can. It just lacks the polish and creativety of her other work. But, one stinker out of all those gems, is not bad at all.

On the subject of least favourite, up until a few days ago, I was never really that keen On 'I'm Still Waiting' but after listening to it recently I've actually noticed that it is a darn fine song, probably one of her best.
And you have to play this one loud just so you can hear the natural fade out on the instruments. It's not often you get to hear the instruments ring out without the track being faded away.

But then again, I find it hard to understand why people like Experiment IV, but people clearly do. I currently have "Experiment IV" on loop, and have for about half an hour That military drum at the end is so poignant in a kind of sinister way ( ) and the second time she sings "the meters are over in the red" (high) is just brilliant! But as you say, how boring would it be if we all liked the same stuff

Of course you're right Lori, I meant to say, to me - or in my opinion. It obviously suited Kate alright. It just sounds a bit conversational and familiar. But, as you say, it would be crappy if we all agreed on everything.

That it stinks, or that diversity is good. ( or both ) ? BTW. In support of Ne T'en Fui Pas, please read the beautiful translated lyrics, everyone, and pay attention to the brilliant bass work. This more than makes up for the 'stinkbomb'

Man, tough crowd. I like Burning Bridge! But not quite in the top 5. 1. Not this Time 2. Under the Ivy 3. December will be magic again (this poor song doesn't have the seasonal advantage that Deluis did ) 4. Warm and Soothing 5. I'm Still Waiting

What's all this negativity about Burning Bridge? I like that song. But, it didn't make the top 15. I had to actually list most of them in order, and then narrow it down to 15! So, here they are, since I went the trouble. I've listed them since I feel if I picked my true top 5, they would not have made the final cut, after seeing the previous choices. That's alright though, really all 15 are about the same to me, so I choose the 5 I thought are really her strongest non-album tracks. So, take the top 5, but here are the following in no particular order after #5: 1. Experiment IV : I think one of the best songs she has ever written, period. 2. Wuthering Heights (new vocal) : The more mature, haunted, possessed, urgent, and heartbreaking version. The song gets the epic treatment here that it always deserved, and how often do we get to hear Kate revisit her old material? Her sound has only gotten more complex with time. To me, it's like the young Cathy versus the older ghost Cathy. 3. Under The Ivy : The top, since it truly stands as against any album track on HOL. 4. My Lagan Love : The best example of how wonderfully gifted a singer she is. Absolutely no accompaniment, and she performs it hauntingly & beautifully. 5. Don't Give Up (w/Gabriel) : The perfect blend of their sounds, in a song that transcends pop music. Heartwretching and uplifting, and have you seen the video where he holds her the entire song? 6. Do Bears : I love Rowan Atkinson and I love Kate Bush. Put them together in this song and it is comic poetry. A great example of her humor. 7. December Will Be Magic Again : It's incredibly hard and rare to write a modern holiday song and touch on some classic magic and childlike wonder. This has it. 8. Another Day (w/Gabriel) : Should have been an official recording, that's all I have to say. 9. Brazil : I own probably 15 versions or more of this song... everyone has recorded it, but no one touches her dreamy romanticism. My absolute favorite version. 10. Mna Na H-Eireann : This song was also recorded in English about the same time by Brightman. Kate's is more emotional and traditional. A fitting tribute to her heritage. 11. Long & Winding Road : My favorite live rare track. It's wonderful to hear a woman sing this, since it has been recorded so many times. 12. The Big Sky (Meteor. Mix) : The most worthwhile remix I have EVER HEARD. That cloud looks like rain... wonderful humor again. 13. Aspects of The Sensual World : I wish there were more versions of her music available like this to hear her music before the lyrics. 14. What If? : One of my most treasured Kate tracks (each one, but this is the best)... shows she really could have released an instrumental album or score, and it would have been just as wonderful as anything else she had done. 15. Un Baiser D'Enfant : Love this song in English, probably love it more in French. Sorry to be long winded, but maybe we should have discussed these songs a little more, considering they are the forgotten ones. They never had the press the singles or the albums tracks have gotten.
