Voted off this week were:
[glow=orange,2,300]Violin and Babooshka[/glow]
That means that the remaining songs are:
Delius (Song Of Summer) The Wedding List Breathing
This week, please just vote off the one song that you like least from this selection. Give reasons for your choice - you have until Thursday, 15th April 2004! It's going to be between two songs this week, judging from the votes last round -- but which one will get the boot?

I really hate doing this, but, mainly on the strength of the other two songs, I must vote off:
"Breathing"
Although it has compelling content, and maybe the strongest, most powerful vocals at it's climax, I do not enjoy it as consistently from start to finish as I do the others.
If it were the last half alone of the song, it would win hands down in my book. Her raw emotional delivery can send chills through you. Probably the only negative is the 'breathing her nicotine' lyric. That has an unsavory concept associated with it. But, at this stage all of these songs are top-drawer.

Although I could see how the vote was shaping up, I am really suprised to see Babooshka go. It's one of the 3 definitive KB singles (you may disagree) along with Wuthering and RUTH. I assumed it was finalist material. Clearly members of the Board look beyond the obvious.
I am voting off [glow=red,2,300]The Wedding List,[/glow] which is a song I truly adore. But it was old Kate, and the other 2 are experimental - perhaps sign posting the way for The Dreaming. That's why I want them to survive.

"Delius" for me too. It's a great song - and it does sound even better in the summer. I like the fly buzz at the end, it adds to that outdoor summer feeling. But - the other two are both in my top 10 Kate songs, so this one has to go...

I was originally going to vote-off "Delius" in this round, but having read that post, I'm going to go with "The Wedding List." Thanks for changing my mind

That is entirely my pleasure RT. Nice to know we can occasionally have a positive influence. I could always see that Never for Ever was an important album, as well as a great one. There were so many indicators that KB was going to be so much more than a great pop artist and a lot of them are on this record. I recall my thoughts clearly when I'd finished playing it half to death: " Kate Bush will either go on from here and produce stunning original work, or she'll self destruct. " For me it was one or the other - I was convinced that she wouldn't slide into obscurity on the back of a few more uninspired EMI pressured recordings. I know that a lot of you folks have come to Kate Bush retrospectively. I realise that I was fortunate to watch her career grow in real time. Still the important thing is that you got here and that must mean that her music shines like a beacon in a sea of mediocrity, and that her work will survive into the next generation. It also means you have great taste and can recognise what is important.. Sh!t, I sound like an elder statesman here! That was not my intention.

But - the other two are both in my top 10 Kate songs, so this one has to go... I'm going with Sto and Paul here with... Deliusfor pretty much the same reason that Sto mentions, but to argue the point about The Wedding List, I think it has a much stronger hook and is very nearly perfect, more infectious than Babooshka. I think that, as for strong songs go here, the battle is between "old" Kate as in the sound in TWL, and the "new" sound for Breathing. I agree, it signals in TD and a new era for her sound, but the strength of TWL can't be denied. And, how can you vote off a song where she nearly loses her top in a live performance? ;D

The Wedding List (sorry Zan ) I love it to death, it is a VERY strong song, but the other two I think are a little more musically inventive.
