1. Night Scented Stock--beautiful but more of an interlude than a song the way I see it.
2. The Infant Kiss--No real reason. I normally like creepy, but this song is a touch of the bad kind of creepy. Doesn't bother me too much, but I have to pick something...

I will agree with Sheila. I love
"Night Scented Stock" It is a beautiful melody; but, as she says, almost a prelude.
"Infant's Kiss" Touchy subject manner - Someone has to deal with it, I'm just not inclined to try and invest my efforts in dismantling the lyrics. Some matters are best left to prose. I may be wrong, but that's my opinion.

Anyway, I should get something for voting off one of my favorite songs early here, since I really do believe the others are stronger. I have a personal affection for Infant Kiss (due to its source material), but this is probably the most difficult time I have had voting off songs. This album probably contains the most of my fave songs. Definitely a beautiful and solid recording. As for Infant Kiss, although I love the story it tells, I think the controversial subject matter may distract from what a wonderfully written and performed song it really is. The French version is absolute musical poetry, full tingles.

Also agreeing with Sheila and Al: Night Scented Stock The Infant KissIs that an invitation, Al? I was willing to bet that you would respond this way. I had remembered your fondness for the song. My comments were intentionally provocative. I agree. I also think that this kind of discussion is what Sto' had in mind for this board.

With the exception of Babooshka, I generally tend to listen mostly to the second half of the album (Wedding List through Breathing) I usually need to be in the mood to play the first side bar Babooshka.

Hi again Sto'. I'd like to vote off Infant Kiss & Night Scented Stock.
Infant Kiss - same reason as last time. Night Scented Stock - dazzling vocal harmony piece, beautiful to listen to and a technical tour de force. But as everyone says, not a song in it's own right. Kate's lyrics are too good to allow me to vote in favour of an instrumental.

Al', you're absolutely right: this is exactly what this board is for. So thanks everyone so far.
Paul, I have to agree, as I think that the second half of the album is stronger than the half. As much as I love "Blow Away" and "All We Ever Look For", I don't think they're quite up to the dazzling standards set by "The Wedding List" and "Breathing" (bar "Babooshka" and "Egypt"). That said, I also adorte "Delius" (hence not yet voting it off) but due to the fade-in from "Bab" and the short length of the track, as well as its lack of 'normal lyric singing', I don't usually see it as a track on its own, a bit like "Night Scented Stock". It is a song on it's own though, of course, and a brilliant one at that...
I'm voting off:
Night Scented Stock Like others have said, it's an interlude, but a beautiful one. All those layers! And it links "The Infant Kiss" and "Army Dreamers" perfectly. Would it have worked if it had been longer?
Violin Experimental, shrill, original and brilliant. It's strange to listen to the demo because it doesn't have the wacky 'violin'-esque voice. It's still a great song though even without that voice. Get the ball rolling! (Rolling the ball to me...)

"Night Scented Stock" and "Violin." I was listening to Delius yesterday, and I really fell in love with it. So I have to keep her in the list. I think I chose "Violin" instead, because I don't really think it has a lot of substance. Great song musically, but there's not really a lot of subject matter other than... well, something to do with a violin - I'm still not sure what

Violin "Violin'' is for all the mad fiddlers, from ``paganini'' to ``old nick'' himself. (1980, kbc 7) And there's a great line in that album. Let me just read the notes on the inside of the album, ``give me the banshees for b.v.s.'' immediately I looked at that and I thought, susie and the banshees, kate bush, doesn't work [Kate laughs]. What is that about? Well unfortunately, [ Inaudible] great for using such words like this. I mean, for instance, ``it's the police'' has a completely different meaning now because of the group called The Police. And I'm referring to the original Banshees who are, in fact sort of, [ Fran. St. Tars] from Ireland, who would only cry when death was eminent. And so it's just meant to be very eerie creatures singing the backing vocals.
