The two songs getting kicked outside this week are "Kite" and "The Saxaphone Song", but 5 other songs got one vote each so this week should be interesting! The songs left to vote for are: Moving Strange Phenomena The Man With The Child In His Eyes Wuthering Heights James And The Cold Gun Feel It Oh To Be In Love L'amour Looks Something Like You Them Heavy People Room For The Life The Kick Inside
Remember to comment on why you like the 2 songs you're voting out! (how's that, Lori? )

Again "James and the Cold Gun" for previously mentioned reasons.
Secondly "Feel It" because I know no one else will vote it off. ;D As much as I like this song, it pales in comparison to the more intimate and mature version from the Hammersmith Concert Video.

Again Secondly "Feel It" because I know no one else will vote it off. ;D Excuse me, I voted it off last week! "Pay attention!" Well, this week I'll vote it "Feel It" again for last week's reasons, as well as... The Man With The Child In His EyesAm I going to be stoned for this choice? Probably! But I don't see what all the fuss is about really - it's a beautiful song, but I think there are much better songs on the album! I always thought it was a strange follow-up to "WH"....!

LAMOUR LOOKS SOMETHING LIKE YOU---for the same reasons I stated before...
OH TO BE IN LOVE---kinda for the same reason, but also because the other songs seem more distinctly Kate, and although OTBIL is wonderful, the other ones seem a bit more unique.

Secondly "Feel It" because I know no one else will vote it off. ;D Huh? Why would you think no one would vote it off? She has much better orgasms on Never ForEver anyway....

Huh? Why would you think no one would vote it off? She has much better orgasms on Never ForEver anyway.... Well as Sto' said, I guess 'cos I wasn't paying attention. (It's not like you guys are paying attention to the "M.O.P. posts )* Anyway, if I hadn't heard the other versions of "Feel It". I would not be voting this one off. It is that strong. Orgasms? Since when do we rate the quality of orgasms? But, her best one's are on "The Sensual World". * (except for August, whom I thank!)

...... They just don't do as much for me as others like JATCG and oooohh, [glow=red,2,300]Feel It[/glow] mmmm, You would think that with as much time as Kate spends in the studio perfecting every little nuance, that her live performances would not measure up. For me, the opposite is true. Her live versions of "Feel It" and "James" blow the album versions away. The same me is true for almost all her "Hammersmith" performances on video. I believe we missed so much by her not touring more The interaction with the audience and her youthful spontanity can never again be captured. Her videos were an attempt to convey her visual artistry, but none of them lived up to the live concert. Does anyone else agree?

*Room for the Life" How does Kate understand this so many years before having Bertie? Knock knock whos there in that baby?
*The Kick Inside* A beautiful dark song full of the contradictions of Love.

I'm voting for... Oh, To Be In Love - I think that "Feel It" and "L'Amour" are better love songs here, more mature and the placement of this song is a little repetitive thematically. The Kick Inside - A lovely song, dark and disturbing, but I think that "Room For The Life" was a better song to end with. ...and because I like some of the other songs better I believe we missed so much by her not touring more The interaction with the audience and her youthful spontanity can never again be captured. Her videos were an attempt to convey her visual artistry, but none of them lived up to the live concert. Does anyone else agree? And I agree with you, Sven. Sometimes I feel that the expressions are too rehearsed (that's necessarily a bad thing) in the video performances. I love to watch for her knowing glances and youthful, fun expressions during more spontaneoous performances. Even some of her performances live on television shows reflect this rehearsed movement and expression. However, this is still more interesting that most other artist's performances. Personally my favorites are when she looks straight at the camera with a coy smile during a particularly "cheeky" lyric. Also, when she plays alone at the piano, I'm reminded that aside from all the theatrics, she is a d*amn fine musician! That's what it was all about initially. And, Al, even though I can't vote it off, I do see your point about "Feel It" and the Hammersmith version does seem more sensual and mature. Speaking of "The Kick Inside"... Pat Benatar does a cover of "Wuthering Heights" on her second album "Crimes of Passion" which is really pretty good, and was also a Kate Bush fan from what I have read. Do you think that she is making a reference to TKI and Kate when she wrote this lyric in the song "All Fired Up" "Living with my eyes closed, going day to day I never knew the difference, I never cared either way Looking for reasons, searching for a sign Reaching out with both hands, got to feel the kick inside..." Any other Benatar fans who see Kate's influence on her music and freedom of spirit, and how Pat later influenced 80's popstars like Madonna? (Madonna doesn't like to believe that she is a product of that time and of other women before her like Kate Bush, Pat Benatar and Debbie Harry, but the past doesn't lie).
