Well, from the title of the topic I guess that you can guess that "Big Stripey Lie" and "The Red Shoes" have been voted off this week! Thanks for all your votes - and lucagrella, I hope you get used to the concept, I know it does seem a little strange at first! But just think of it as an excuse to talk about all the wonderful songs on this album! The songs which you can still vote off are as follows: Rubberband Girl And So Is Love Eat The Music Moments Of Pleasure The Song Of Solomon Lily Top Of The City Constellation of the Heart Why Should I Love You? You're The One Please vote your two least favourite tracks off and comment on it, especially why you like it (where possible, Lori ...sorry, I'll stop that now ) and enjoy! As a little afterthought, I just want to say how much I'm adoring this very album at the moment - it's the only album I've been listening to for days!

"Constellation of the Heart"--I really just can't get into this song at all. "Top of the City"--No real reason. I love this song. I think I just listen to it slightly less than the other choices. It's already difficult to vote and it's only round 2!!

I will have to agree. My choices are:
Constellation Of the Heart---I like the marching quality this song has like few other of Kate's songs in the past.
Top Of the City---I only care for when Kate says the title of the song within this song not much else.

"You're The One" for aforementioned reasons. (I can't be doubley negative here.) and: "Constellation of the Heart" Also nothing wrong with this track. I just asked my self 'why should I love you'? and couldn't come up with enough reasons to save it. Seriously, it is a unique song. I guess the metaphor never really resonated with me. I enjoy it musically more than lyrically.

Thanks to the voters, but not many yet this week My votes: Why Should I Love You?My leats favourite Kate track - see last week for more rambling/complaint! Eat The MusicI said in another thread that this was Kate's "I'm unhappy but I'll write a happy song as I need a lead single to this album" song. Sometimes it's great, but usually I find it too long...glad it didn't get a release in the UK, I don't think it would have done well...mind you, I'd rather this than "The Red Shoes" single....

I didn't vote last week, just couldn't bring myself to. But you seem to be a little more gentle this week - and of course I have to defend my favorites (since Big Stripey Lie didn't last very long, but then I didn't think it would.) So my votes for the weakest link this week are: Why Should I Love You - I think this song lyrically is a lot darker than it is given credit for. This entire album is about faith and enlightenment in a terrible time for Kate, so here she is questioning her religious upbringing - why should I love you, as is why should I have love and believe in this faith. She is open to what it can do for her (the "L" of the lips are open to the "O" of the host), but requires more than what is offered. I chose it since I think the Prince connection did not help the feel of the song. Eat The Music - I love this song and the entire album, but I must pick. This is just too upbeat for such a dark, personal and conceptual album, although it is still incredibly uplifting.

Reluctantly my choices are: * "Why Should I love You" because it is the least Kate-like song on the album. It's almost a (God forbid) Pop song, with Prince's thunbprint all over it. I never was fond of this colaboration. I like some of Prince's work, he just doesn't mesh with Kate Bush as well. * "Eat the Music" is also a 'little ditty'. When I first heard it, it gave me a headache. It is quite good. The imagery is so vivid. It just sounds a little thick. It's much better than all of Britney Spear's songs combined tho'.

Hey Al, how many songs are you going to vote off this week anyway?! Or were you just getting your votes in early for next week? ;D

I've noticed a general vibe--everyone but me seems to think it's not good when Kate does an upbeat song---too commercial---not gutwrenching enough--or whatever the reason. You want gutwrenching? Kate's upbeat songs keep me from jumping if front a freight train. Prince always controlled his women, yet Kate's "Prince" song is very much Kate. I'm sure she wore the pants in that relationship. Eat the Music makes me dance like a fool! My least fave Kate lp is "The Sensual World" because my complaint about it was that it was a little too sensitive and precious. I was worried TRS would be even more so because of all the death in her life at the time but it was refreshingly upbeat when it seemed to me her work was getting disheartingly negative. This positivity shows me her true genius and artistry. Whoah! Sorry for rambling...

No...I'm not voting again . I just wanted to comment on the thoughtful response from Sheila. You're probably right about the direction Kate has gone. The next album should have more hope and joy in it. She is a mother now, with the benefit of hindsight and life experience. I would expect to appreciate her evolution. And Sheila. never worry about rambling. That's what seperates this board from the other Kate site's. We can be trivial, fun or very deep. So ramble on.

I think we're the best ramblers on the 'net here and I wouldn't have it any other way! I think you're right, Sheila. I think I generally do prefer Kate's more sensetive songs, just because that's the type of music I usually enjoy. That's not to say I don't like Kate's upbeat songs though. I think "Lily" counts as upbeat and that's in my top 5 Kate songs. I think it's rather the song "Eat The Music" that I'm not so keen on, as opposed to its style. I know where you're coming from though, definitely! Kate's so diverse that you get all different styles with her, so we're bound to have differences in taste!
