This really going to be difficult. It is hard enough to stick with one of my choices last week , but I will for the same reasons: * Wow I really like the remaing three almost equally. Symphony in Blue is probably my favorite on this album;but, I do not think it will make the cut. I'm sticking with it anyway (in spite of the pun at the end) Her voice is so lilting and ethereal. The piano is the perfect accompaniment to this song. A coin flip would decide between "Hammer Horror" and "Lionheart" They are great for different reasons. I prefer the video performanse of HH. It, again, is a better performance piece than a song (for me anyway) * "Hammer Horror" is my 2nd choice for ouster. I felt like since the title track was selected by Kate herself, that out of respect for her judgement, it should be a finalist. That logic held up with "The Sensual World" voting, but not for "The Dreaming" But, that being said, I honor her heritage by saving 'Lionheart' from the rest of you 'gladiators'.

I guess I'm voting off the same ones I did last time: Oh England My Lionheart and Syphony in Blue. I love them both, but I have no new reasons for voting them off.

Oops! I forgot it was Friday, and I didn't vote in the last round. Well, anyway, my votes for this week (and last week) are: Wow & Lionheart Now, it was really difficult. I just love both, but something had to go. Sometimes there are just too many "wow's" for my mood, and if LH is playing in the background, I'll miss Lionheart. Lionheart has to be one of her most emotional songs, and I love all things British, but I don't have the love for the homeland quite as much as some of you do! But I never miss Symphony in Blue or Hammer Horror. And who can resist the live performance and video!

Much as it pains me to do so, I have to vote off: Symphony in Blue Oh England my Lionheart I have always loved both and they are dear to me in different ways. OEML was in fact one of my favourites on first listening. It was nearly 25 years ago and I was only 15 and a fervent Anglophile (thanks to Kate)...I've actually still got my teenage diary in which I recorded my feelings about "Lionheart" and it's surprising how often I mention this song. It captured the essence of how I felt about England, a place I had never been and had no ancestral connection with - but still dreamed of. Alas, my feelings towards the song are not as intense these days. Still love it of course, but love others better! SIB is not one of my favourite Lionheart tracks - maybe if it had a video to make me connect with it better... I can imagine her performing it at the piano (a la "Feel It" in the Hammersmith live video). Anyway, it's gotta go! All I care about is keeping my two absolute faves, "Wow" & "Hammer Horror" in the running for top song. I live for these...

It was nearly 25 years ago and I was only 15 and a fervent Anglophile (thanks to Kate)...I SIB is not one of my favourite Lionheart tracks - maybe if it had a video to make me connect with it better... I can imagine her performing it at the piano (a la "Feel It" in the Hammersmith live video). You know, I never really thought of it that way (as an Anglophile) but I have similar feelings that started with some earlier 'British Invaders' Brits like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles had great success here in the 'States' recycling old R&B riffs that the older (racist) establishment in America had tried to squelch. Even Jimi Hendrix had to leave the US for England to have his vision accepted. We all loved Hendrix, after he had success there for a couple of years. But prior to that, 'The Yardbirds' Van Morrison, Eric Burden 'The Kinks' and 'The Zombies' were my inspirations. (I even named my son after the keyboard player for 'The Zombies' ('Colin' Blunstone) after watching them live on tour. Kate was the one that really turned the corner for me though. Her music spoke to me like no other. As the artist 'Tricky' stated, (paraphrasing here ) Kate Bush's music has no father or mother, and that she should be cherished above 'The Beatles'. I agree. He echoes my sentiments as he further relates Kate's discography to (essentially) scripture. It is the philosophical fuel that I have been burning all these years. Not what she has done or said in the past,; but for the path of enlightenment that she has lead me to. Her investing so much of her spirit, to be who she is, with no holding back, is remarkable. She is a diachotomy of 'fragile power' - willing to risk bearing her soul to those who will not even grasp her vision. So yes, I have an affinity as well for the British. It is after all my heritage too. In some ways, there are some of us here that have maintained that independant streak that was brought over here by our forefathers. But, not all of us have gotten the message of tolerance and good will. Our 'Manifest Destinty' seems to have no end in sight. It is often said that 'Capitalism' is the worst form of government, except for all the others. I guess this is true......How the hell did I get off on such a rant, Sorry! One more thing....You mentioned 'SIB" being improved by a updated video vis-a-vis the 'Feel It' performance @ Hammersmith. I had made the same observation (I think?) on the "Kate Unplugged' thread on the general board. We must have something here, Kate are you listening? (I going to dig that thread back up)

My votes this week:
* Oh England My Lionheart - a beautifully crafted song. Her voice is quite shrill at time, but that's why I love Kate's early week. It's quite a dreamy song, I think because of the softness of the piano.
* Wow - should have been released first, I think it would have helped the album a lot more than "Hammer Horror". Anyone else singing "Wooowoooowoooowooowooowwwoow" would have irritated me endlessly, but Kate gets away with it due to the amazing quality of her voice. Actually, I find the song quite sarcastic - I don't suppose it was meant to be...!
