We've all come to the conclusion that there aren't any of these songs that we actually dislike, as such. To make the exercise a little more positive, I thought it might be an idea if we say why we DO like the songs we choose, as opposed to why we dislike them. We can just make an assumption that we like some of the other tracks on the album even more. For the first round, "Pull Out The Pin" and "There Goes A Tenner" are plunged into "the crapper" as altruest so graciously put it. "Houdini"wasn't able to "escape" from being voted off either... So for round 2, you can vote off two tracks, stating your positive views towards them. Enjoy! The choices: Sat In Your Lap Suspended In Gaffa Leave It Open The Dreaming Night Of The Swallow All The Love Get Out Of My House

Sto', you may have a future in politics. The two songs I am going to vote off are great ;D. * "The Dreaming" * "Sat In Your Lap" The only reason I've cast my vote for them is 'cos I've played them over and over. The other tracks on this album are now in my 'listening rotation' more often. Besides I prefer to save these two for watching on video. (I love how Kate pouts in 'SIYL")

A good way to put it Sto`! It is not easy discarding anything you`ve loved for a long time. My choices: * Leave it open * Get out of my house These tracks do get played less than the others from The Dreaming. I still love them though! Particularly when Kate changes into the mule! I just find it so attractive that the girl of my dreams can surrender herself to such a state of being and still sound like an angel!

Houdini/ 'escape' I just picked up on that ;D MT, even though your choices are different than mine; my remaining favorite is still in the hunt. I'll divulge it in due time. Sto' and everybody else...let's hear your's.

Well I did not get in to Round 1 with my choices cause I found it too dificult to pick my least favorite songs off this album. I find that most of them have a terrific backbeat, amazing vocals, or some other kind of hook that is quite memorable. Plus Kate's lyrics are as always out of this world. This week I pick the 2 songs I feel are least memorable in my opinion:
--Get out of My House This just sounds like filler to me. It is the song I am least used to.
--Night of the Swallow I like this one. Ity is quite inticate and complex.

Very well put indeed, robdestiny! Well this week my votes are going to: * The Dreaming The atmosphere on this sound is so exciting and interesting, especially the animal sounds in the backgound. I still chuckle when the song starts off with "BANG! goes another Kanga on the bonnet of the van" - that was genius, Kate * All The Love - This is where it starts getting hard, because I *really* love this song. Even though it's that choirboy who's singing it, the "We needed you..." is so haunting. The only thing I don't like about the song is the "Goodbye, see you soon..." bit, I don't understand why it's there at all. Al' - surely voting off "NOTS" and "GOOMH" is better than me voting off "Pull Out The Pin" last week (which I still have yet to listen to "properly" but I will, I promise! )?

'All the Love' & 'Get Out of My House'. I prefer the weirder and more upbeat tracks

Stephen King's "The Shining" was supposedly the inspiration for 'GOOMH' It is wrought with paranoia and fear. It is extremly forceful and original. I would hardly call it "filler" However, life goes on. It would be tough to find a wierder track though. But in Lori's defense she gave us the 'eyeroll' I was more concernred that 'NOTS' was getting the ax. It is more musical as well as it painting a prettier picture. I also love the Irish folk music interlude. And, according to my count it only has one vote for ouster. ;D

Ah yes - sorry Lori, I'll pay more attention to your eye rolling in thr future! ;D
"GOOMH" is one of my favourite Kate songs, party BECAUSE of its weirdness. The bit at the end, after the "ee-aw"ing, where it's what sounds like a synthesised voice going "duh, duhduhduh..." (is this the Fairlight?) plays through my mind often, it's very catchy despite being uncommercial. I can definitely see why some may not like it though - I thought it would be out first round.

Hi everyone, Just found this forum today and this was the first topic that caught my interest! So much so, that I was compelled to join and post my thoughts (and defend my favorite songs!) This seems like a fun idea, and I think it's fun to argue for our favorites! First of all, I love ALL Kate songs. Probably the only musician in my collection that I can say that of, maybe along with Peter Gabriel. Any other Gabriel fans out there? That's why she's my favorite female artist. I really never get tired of any of song or album, and I continue to find something new everyday. I'm sure all of you can agree with that! So to start with The Dreaming in this weakest link, I'd have to choose: Suspended in Gaffa & Get Out of My House, both excellent songs (aren't they all in their own way) but I do find myself not longing to hear these as often as the others. Maybe even skip them if I only have time for a short listen. and fiercely defend two of my favorites: Night of the Swallow & Leave it Open. Now, I can understand Leave it Open since it is quite unusual and aggressive, but it's similarities to Intruder by Peter Gabriel make it on the top of my list. But Night of the Swallow ?! You must be kidding!

I was more concernred that 'NOTS' was getting the ax. One of my favourite Kate tracks ever. If this goes I might start a campaign, who's with me on this one? LoL, just kidding ;D hehe. But I do love it. I think it's proven to be a VERY popular song to all the Kate fans.
