driving back from miami 11 years ago , maybe more across alligator alley( the east west route across southern florida also known as the tamiami trail,a dark lonely road where you don't want to get stranded)
it was a july evening, humid! nuff said,in a 86 VW rabbit convertible( it didn't help) she had tapes (remember them)lots of them, all in different cases, I'd just grab some and pop em in.
This one, she blurted! leave this one in, ahh are ya sure, kinda slow, don't want ya fallin asleep, she said shut up and leave it,O.K. I was to sunburned to argue and I wanted a smoke so....
"Moving" was the song, funny huh, but that wasn't it,it was the next song that took me... took me away!
"the saxophone song", listening to it with the stangent everglades air blowing over my head, maybe it was the swamp gas lightening my head, but I went to places!
like Paris! it was the twenties,
New Orleans in the fifties,
I swear I was alive there, for just moments!
from those moments I changed .
