Hey,
Well I discovered Kate simply by seeing her Wuthering Heights music video on a music channel (can't remember which) I just fell in love with the song. This was only last year. Then started searching the web and downloading loads of other Kate Bush songs and I just was hooked from then onwards. ;D My mum also loves Kate... she bough the record of Wuthering Heights when it came out and my dad said she used to dance around to it like a loonie. (Pretty much like me then lolz)

I discovered Kate watching her R.U.T.H. Video on the KROQ show in LA (on the television of course) back in 1989 I think it was? I was mesmerized..left me wanting more..and the rest is history....Love and extreme adoration...only wished that I could have seen you on your tour of life.

Once again, someone turned on to a lifetime of KB appreciation by the same brief TV slot back in the mists of time. It's difficult to imagine another artist so capable of inflaming the senses with such a brief exposure..

After that broadcast she stayed on my mind intermittently - not being able to shake the experience, yet not actively pursuing her music right away. I would say that she opened up something inside of me that made me different from that day on. 'All this from a 3 minute slot in time.

I DISCOVERED KATE AT THE FRANKFORT FESTHALLE IN GERMANY IN 1980 81. STRICTLY BY ACCIDENT. I WAS AT A ROXY MUSIC SHOW AND IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN TO THE FESTHALLE IT HAS LIKE 6 VENUES AND I WAS LOST AND WALKED INTO HER "SHOW" AND COULD NOT LEAVE. I HAVE BEEN AN AVID FAN SINCE. HER VOICE JUST KINDA STRUCK ME HARD AND IT HAD A HAUNTING EFFECT THAT I COULD NOT SHAKE. THE NEXT DAY I PURCHASED EVERYTHING I COULD FIND BY HER ALL ON VYNIL ABOUT 400DM WORTH WHICH WAS A LOT BACK THEN. I HAVE SINCE SEEN HER ON PURPOSE AND THE EFFECT IS STILL THE SAME. 5 SHOWS AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL SHE OR IF SHE EVER TOURS THE STATES TO PROMOTE THE NEW CD I WILL BE THERE!!!

I first saw "Babooshka" video about 10 years ago I think on VH1. Then I didn't know anything until I started getting into some Tori Amos. Of course once you get into Tori, you learn all about Kate Bush. I still didn't do more then just read Amazon.com reviews of her CDs for the longest time. Then Aerial came out and I had to try. Boy, was I NOT disappointed. What an album!

hi! i used to share a bedroom with my big sister and we didn't (and still don't) have alot of things in common but one day she started listening to kate bush-alot-like round the clock this soon became the one thing we had in common and at age 7 i'd rock out to hammer horror and knew all the words to the red shoes album by age ten, when we got seperate rooms i didnt listen to her much but lately i've really gotten into her and her music again-i think she is just this amazing artist with a truely unique vocal talent

I was just listening to the radio while I was nodding off a few weeks ago and on came 'Suspended in Gaffa'. I was familiar with Kate already but never felt compelled to give her more than a brief listen. I think it was the line "I don't know why I'm crying" that really did it for me this time for various reasons. I taped it off the radio and soon afterwards I bought a few of the albums. I initially, in my half asleep state, thought that I was listening to Annie Lennox but quickly realised it was Kate Bush. No way one could possibly sleep through the high pitched "Not 'til I'm ready for you" - there's no better artist to jolt you from your sleep than our Kate! I'll have to say though that I do remember, as I'm sure everyone does, the first time I heard Wuthering Heights (I was 11) and it did make me go to the library and borrow the book but I only got as far as the bit with Cathy at the window! However I just read it recently and it's a top book.

I was introduced to Kate's music back in 1978 - around the time that "Lionheart" was released...a friend sent me a tape of "The Kick Inside", which I prompty purchased for myself, along with "Lionheart". I was immediately captivated by every aspect of her music. Thus began a nearly 30 year fascination with it that continues unabated.
Jean, it's interesting that you describe your thoughts about Kate when you were in a half-asleep state...I often find myself listening to her music when I feel like drifting off for a bit, and it's always interesting to come awake to it; as my mind goes through successive levels of consciousness, I hear more colour and texture to her work. And recently, I awoke just as "Somewhere In Between" (from Aerial) was playing..."Somewhere in between / Sleep and waking up". It blew me away.
