Seems a bit egocentric to devote a new thread to this, but here it goes.
In late summer 1985 I was going to practice skidpan driving, something you have to do to get a drivers license in Sweden (and maybe elsewhere?). I arrived a bit early and had to wait a while to start the introductory theoretical part, so I wandered around the main building feeling a bit nervous and unseasy as you might do when you are about to be examined (sort of), not knowing how hard it will be. At least there was some music to listen to since the radio was on with some speakers placed somewhere in the ceiling, and I realised that they were playing something I immediately liked. I didn't quite recognise the artist but I guessed that it might be a new single with (and here is the really embarrasing part ) Cyndie Lauper perhaps.
Well, of course it wasn't, in fact "Running up that hill" became at least a small hit in Sweden so I couldn't avoid learning who was actually singing and eventually went and bought the whole album (I never did buy singles, not enough music for the money ).
I must admit that I didn't really like it at first and now twenty years later I don't know when and why I started buying all her records but I did and for many years I considered "The Dreaming" the best record ever made (but now I would say that "Hounds of love" is even better, in particular that strange "b-side" that put me off at first).
I haven't been listening much to music at all the last three years or so but I just got kind of a personal Kate Bush revival. And that originates from a rather silly reason. I have got a new computer at work and hence I lost my old file greeting me with "hello earth" when it starts. So I had to make a new file wich inspired me to take a look at the internet and, for the first time, actually read some of all the old discussions archived at Gaffaweb and then I just had to listen to her records again. After that I wondered if there could be any active fan pages or something like that for someone who hasn't made a record for twelve years, and so I found this page. The next thing I know is that there is a new record on its way and that felt almost like an impossible dream coming true, with a very, very brilliant timing.
