I first heard of Kate, of all places, on Momus' website. He mentioned Wuthering Heights as being a similar concept to one of his songs. I Napstered the track and was charmed enough to buy The Whole Story, which I slowly grew attached to. I then picked up The Sensual World at a used cd store, but was dissapointed by its outward mellowness, not to discover its true genious for nearly three years. The next year, my roomate picked up a copy of The Kick Inside, mixing up Kate and another of my favorite singers, Tanya Donelly, whose album I was eagerly anticipating. I listened to the disc anyway and it became one of my favorites. I picked up, but never listened to the Dreaming and the Hounds Of Love on vinyl, and it wasn't until I bought myself a copy of Lionheart last fall that I realized I needed to own every Kate Bush album recorded. I rediscovered The Sensual World, which is now one of my favorites. I bought The Red Shoes next, followed by the Hounds Of Love on CD. I just completed my collection with The Dreaming and Never For Ever, which I adore. I love all of her albums to varying degrees and for various reasons, and Kate is now one of my most collected artists (along with Billy Joel, Grant Lee Phillips, and Tanya Donelly).
So, I owe my love of Kate to a dubious endorsement, internet music piracy, and a case of mistaken identity, without which I might never be torturing and confounding my friends with the manic and shrill brilliance of my favorite and most misunderstood musical idol.

I must have discovered Kate in 2000. I found the webpage where I first encountered her name. www.imomus.com/kkmp3.html I was 17 at the time. In answer to your other question, I googled this forum, I was looking for info on Kate's new album.

Hi V Roller, I'll use Gabriel if you don't mind. I am always interested to hear how folks came to the music of Kate Bush. Yours seems to have been fairly torturous - the important thing is that you got there. As Al says, look around and get to know us. We are something of a community, and I hope that our knowledge of Kate and her material justifies the time you spend here. Share your own thoughts and some details about yourself when you're comfortable to do so.

Google does seem to be a popular search engine for obtaining Kate News

WTF is that supposed to mean? That the rest of us are old - or just not interesting?

You misunderstand me. I was merely remarking on the fact that it's great more people of my age range are appreciating the work of Kate Bush. Nothing more. Anyway, as I always say, "You are only has old as the person you feel (for)" - Which makes me 34.

No. You apparently can't take a joke. I'll try to keep it simple.
