Hey there, this is my first post and I'm really happy to have found you guys. I've loved Kate for as long as I've loved music. Fave Kate record, although probably a cliche to say so, is Hounds of Love. Fave song would be somewhere in this list : Dream of Sheep, A Coral Room and Bertie. Pretty cool considering I've loved all of her records and two of my top songs of hers come from the latest album!
Anyway, that's it. Wanted to say hello. I'm 35, I live in England.
Mark.

Welcome Mark. Take a look around and make yourself at home. By your screen name and musical choices; I'm guessing you're a keyboard player.

Hello Mark. What actually would have been cliche would have been to say that Hounds of Love is your favorite album and that Under the Ivy is your favorite song. EDIT: not that there's anything wrong with that! Well actually the last I recall anyway Never for Ever was somehow leading the "favorite album" poll - which I find to be a good thing since it's a sentimental favorite of mine. So who else do you particularly care for?

I love Peter Gabriel.. and a lot of other female singers. I really loved Eurythmics and still adore Annie. I love Stevie Nicks too. Prince, even dare I say it, Madonna (did anyone else think Ray of Light sounded vaguely Kate inspired?'. Me, not a keyboard player, but love the sound of the Fairlight.
I'm just getting into Ariel deeper and deeper now. I used to constantly listen to side one.. but now I'm really digging the last few tracks of the second disc too.

even dare I say it, Madonna (did anyone else think Ray of Light sounded vaguely Kate inspired?'. I am listening to Madonna's "Music" album right now. hrm... I can't say I've noticed a Kate influence to Ray of Light but I'll be on the lookout for it the next time I hear it.

Greetings Mark, from another English Kate devotee. Sorry I'm late catching up with you - I've had little time of late other than to keep an eye on the latest posts.
Hope to see you around..

re Kate influence on 'ray of light' by madonna.. it's the vocal in the chorus. Also, the song is written in a 'mode' which is a Kate thing to do. re Adey Hey! Listening to 'coral room'.. That song just gets better and better!

Adey Hey! Listening to 'coral room'.. That song just gets better and better! Indeed ~ it's a stunning piece of work. An obvious labour of love and the result must surely be all that she hoped for. A highspot in a glorious album that's full of them. It seems to me that Kate's intimate style is perfectly suited to songs of the elegiac persuasion. Coral Room is the latest in a string of such songs that take the listener "to the edge of the emotional frontier". See also MOP & Blow Away amongst others..
