KB to Perform at Closing Ceremony???

Seems like the rumor is connected to a digital download of a RUTH remix that will apparently be made available on Sunday following the festivities.

Who knows if it will actually happen, but I think I'll be setting my DVR to record just in case...

If she does it it will be a solo performance, or with musicians supplied by the Olympics organisers, because Del Palmer knows nothing about it.

I'm not holding any great hopes, but it would be terrific if she was to appear.

Maybe this will be a surprise guest appearance during one of the other artists' performances?

They used a brief snippet of Running Up That Hill in the ceremony - but no actual appearance by Kate.

The ceremony was very close to the running order I posted.

Yeah, shame on me for giving too much credence to what I see in the paper . As a sometime member of the media, I should know better. At any rate, it was nice that RUTH was used in connection to the ceremony. I didn't actually see that part, though -- I believe it was edited out of the U.S. prime time broadcast (as were several of the musical performances).

I think RUTH was included in the replay of the closing ceremony that was scheduled sometime later on NBC. Lots of the music was edited out of the prime time broadcast, from what I hear. "Ray Davies? Kate Bush? Who are they? Not anyone Americans need to hear!" Silly NBC.

Ray Davies was indeed cut from the NBC prime time broadcast. And even The Who's finale didn't get played until after midnight (following the local news and a preview of a new sitcom). They still, somehow, found the time to give us like three Jesse J. songs before 11pm. Unreal!

Sorry to those watching on NBC who didn't get to see it! In case you still haven't, here it is (you have to click to watch it. The commentators do talk over little bits, but not too much):



I thought it was quite wonderful. Yes it would have been nice if Kate had appeared (I thought she'd jump out of a box!), but it was a vibrant and atmospheric visual adaptation, and it works well.

I also laugh at the 'It doesn't hurt me' *boxer gets punched*
