Am I giving away too much by saying that the first instrument we hear on the album is Kate's piano - solo - and the first voice we hear is Bertie's...
Lots to love on this album.

Elton does some very nice (vocal) work - especially at 5'58" into "Snowed In At Wheeler Street". Kate matches him a little later on!

I must have a dirty mind. In the song "50 Words for Snow" Kate counts off the numbers, 1 to 50, while Stephen Fry coins 50 very amusing English-ish terms for snow. When she gets to "6" I could have sworn she says "sex"! Or perhaps I'm in love again... --Paul--

No, not until next week. --Paul-- So you pirated it, tut tut Paul.. No, no. I don't think it was available in a piratical fashion until today anyway. But no ... no pirate's life for me, it's all about the physical copies. --Paul--

There's an excerpt from an official video for "Wild Man" on the front page of Kate's site now - yes, you can see Kate in it!

Surprised to find an interview with kate today (friday) in the Arts section of my newspaper, "I". The paper is a cut down version of "The Independant". Well worth a read, Kate talks about having to find new ways of working given the time demands of Motherhood and her home. She doesn't exactly acknowledge that she has been self indulgent in her recording methods over the years, but she certainly confirms that she is more than happy with her new, enforced, ways of working. With an unbelieveable 2 albums this year, we've obviously reaped the benefits too! The Arts section also goes on to review "50 Words". The comments have really raised my expectations. And it's another 5 star review folks! I'm embarassed now to recall that just a few years ago, I was stating here that I believed Aerial would be her last album..

And so the day is here!
My friend picked up the album for me today. After my experiences with on-line ordering The Director's Cut, it was a shop purchase or nothing! I'll get it off her tonight after work, then reach for the Hi Fi..
Must say, I haven't looked forward to snow this much since I was a kid!

I just bought my copy this morning. The title cut is my favorite, followed by Wildman. But I bet the slower piano numbers will become mainstays on my rotation as well. The muscianship, recording values, editing and nuance are all stellar. This album will continue to deliver...
