Our very own Kate Bush is the only musician pictured in this article about the development of sampling technology over the years (it goes all the way back to 1963, would you believe). She is shown working on her beloved Fairlight keyboard/workstation, back in the early eighties: The article is in Keyboard magazine, June 2010. --Paul--

Excellent. Nice to see her recognised in this way.
I came to Samplers via analogue sound synthesis. Had a good look around then went back to synthesis. But how would Never for Ever and The Dreaming have sounded without Kate's love of the Fairlight CMI? And how much was she inspired to create, by this and other devices she came to have access to?
On that basis, I say thank heaven for The Fairlight. If anyone ever sees one for sale on Ebay, by a certain Berkshire Lady, give me a call! There's a piece of equipment that deserves Museum status..
