Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but here goes. Many years ago the BBC ran a programme about the RSPCA I thought the theme tune was sung by Kate but I have not been able to find it, the lyrics went along the lines of "It's hard to believe but it's true, time after time, the pain and the sorrow" It may have been sung by someone else but I vaguely remember my parents saying it was sung by Kate Bush.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

I've heard that Kate's song "This Woman's Work" was used in an advertisement for the RSPCA in the UK. That doesn't have the words that you quoted, but you can hear the song and judge for yourself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk2ok338CnU&feature=related--Paul--

It was This Woman's Work for that advert Not sure about the RSPCA programme though

I wonder if the song could have been "Not This Time" (it's on the "This Women's Work" compilation). It's lyrics would certainly work well in a RSPCA ad:
... Oh, with a mind that renders everything sensitive, What chance do I have here? Put an end, put an end, Put an end to every dream. When you're near, I fear you, And I forget myself.
But not this time. ...

Hello Gategirl, Paul, Lori, and Sal Many years ago the BBC ran a programme about the RSPCA I thought the theme tune was sung by Kate but I have not been able to find it, the lyrics went along the lines of "It's hard to believe but it's true, time after time, the pain and the sorrow" It may have been sung by someone else but I vaguely remember my parents saying it was sung by Kate Bush. The BBC did run a programme about the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) called "Animal Squad", but the theme song was not sung by Kate Bush but by Barbara Dickson. As noted above, Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" - written for the film "She's Having A Baby" (1988) - was used for an advertising campaign run by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). Although Kate Bush's "Not This Time" (b-side of the single The Big Sky) is about a woman who declares her independence from her possessive, domineering, abusive lover (wiki), it has not, as far as I know, been used for any domestic violence charity.ANIMAL SQUAD (TV - 1986)
"Animal Squad" was a prime time BBC documentary series screened in 1986. Produced by Paul Berrill, the 30 minute episodes revolved around an RSPCA animal rescue squad. The signature theme, "Time After Time", was sung by Barbara Dickson, written by Rod Argent and Robert Howes and produced by Del Newman and Ian Lynn. It was released as a single by K-Tel Records in 1986, and also featured on Barbara's album "The Right Moment" the same year.Time After Time (Rod Argent/Robert Howes)
It's hard to believe what we see Time after time, the pain and the sorrow And someday we'll say let it be They hide their eyes and turn from the sorrow
Time after time, we share the crime Time after time we turn away
What does it take to show that you care? Open your eyes, for life we all share
Time after time, we share the crime Time after time we turn away
And is it hard to think of this As a world full of sorrow and shame It surely will change when we open our hearts
It's so easy to help when all is said They're born, they breed, and hurt like us
It's hard to believe what we see (time after time) Time after time, the pain and the sorrow And someday we'll say let it be (time after time) They hide their eyes and turn from the sorrow
Time after time, we share the crime Time after time we turn away
Time after time, we share the crime Time after time we turn away
