Well it certainly is an interesting sound. I was only able to hear one of the four songs (Quarentined) - the others were "playing" but with no sound. So on just that one song heard I'd say that he's really got something with that thing he plays - I think it would be particularly interesting if he'd (1) stop singing and let someone else do it and (2) develop a singing style (his, or preferably a different vocalist) that would provide more of a contrast to the sound of the thing.
But yeah, interesting...

It must be an affectation that he is trying to create a 'droning' sound with on that cut. That being said, may be writing and playing are his strong suits.

Hello everyone, A friend of mine pointed me onto this wonderful Kate board. I thank you Al for posting my stuff on the board which was a very kind thing to do and to Kevin for your constructive critisism. I was personally never fully happy with Quarantined and it's since been significantly revamped.
However I would invite you all the listen to the current four tracks I have up on myspace which I think shows a lot more improvement on both my vocals and playing. They were all taken in one take in a studio, just myself on my own in November and I'm much more proud of these.
Thanks again! Simon

Well I tried to listen to them but as usual with myspace I can't get anything to play.
Actually, it does "play" in that I can see the color bars of the player indicating that tracks are being played, and the player itself says that it is playing, but absolutely no sound emerges.
It's a problem with my system and not one of your site.
