Howdy! ;D I graduated from High School in "83" so I gew up with everything from my parants 40's and 50's ....then later my older siblings and their tunes.....So I gew up on all kinds of music....like the Stones, Beattles, Doors, MOODY BLUES! - seen them three times met Justin once! will never forget that!! Pink Floyd, The who, Emerson Lake and Palmer and YES. I also love Jazz, some Brazilain Somba pop jazz, Impressionist / Romantic period artist like Debussy, Moussorgsky, Stravinsky and Thaikavsky....that mellow dreamy stuff. So....like....what are you in to when your not listioning to 80's or Ms. Bush?

Actually I've been kind of getting into techno in the past year or two. My CD collection makes no sense whatsoever to the untrained eye. Gustav Holst, The Kinks, Frank Zappa, Fong Naam(Thai classical band--check them out! Ironically the leader, the only guy in the band who is not Thai, as a matter of fact is from a suburb here in Chicago! But fell in love with Thai music so much he moved there , some Punk, some Metal, some of just about everything! I'm about due for a Jazz phase... I even have a William Shatner album! I love late 60's psychedelic rock. And of course there was my undeniable "Goth" phase when I was madly in love with Robert Smith of the Cure in high school... The very first time I got an alcohol buzz was sitting on the lawn at an outdoor Moody Blues concert! Pleasant memories! Oh my how that went bad! (Not the Moody Blues--I like them, I mean the situation--everyone involved in that pleasant memory is in a much worse way now.) That concert was the night Phillip "Snakefinger" Lithman died. Great avant guarde guitarist. Oh but I digress. Back to the Sox game for me!

I love the smell of (Heavy) Metal in the morning...
Too many to list, but PM me if you're really that interested. Though I doubt you'll have heard of most of them...

Sounds like a lesioning party Sheila! Your probably right Flea..... I do like the 80's Metal ( it had style ) Blue Oyster Cult - Fire of unknown origin. The Heavy Metal Movie soundtrack and the Film! RUSH! ( GREAT LYRICS! ) I'm not up on newer stuff. The latest music I have collected is XTC's last two....Brendan Perry's Eye of the Hunter and the Cocteau Twins BBC collection. I'm so old school its not funny.

If you like XTC you have to get "Chips from the Chocholate Fireball" by the Dukes of Stratosphear. It actually is XTC being phsychedelic under a fake name. Great stuff!

Ah, yes. Love the Dukes of Stratosphear. If you're into vinyl, hunt down their original six-song EP. Best 60s music ever made in the mid-80s.

But all of that is included on the Chips from the Chocolate Fireball cd isn't it? True, but the CD doesn't have the groovy 12" artwork. While I'm not one of those vinyl snobs (I don't even own a turntable anymore), 12" artwork is one thing I miss. If the Beatles were formed today, there's no way they'd make a cover like Sgt. Pepper nowadays.

What about SPLIT ENZ? You don't run into folks who even know who they are let alone fans? Genius I say... pure genius!! I had a couple of their albums on vinyl, both gone but missed. Dysrythmia and, uh, the one with "I Got You" on it. "Charley" is one of the most haunting new wave songs ever! I remember also liking "Crosswords", "I Got You" and "Shark Attack". Yeah, I miss those records!

Sheila darling......one word:
EBAY!
I have replaced many of my 80's LP's on disc that way! many from 3.00 to 16.00 U.S. dollars and that is WITH shipping!
Some hard to find and out of print! The most recent was Bill Nelson's VISTAMIX very hard to find on CD.....but on that one I did pay 35.00 bucks for.

I love "Zero 7", great chill out music with their next album due out in May. I also noticed the number sequence of 07 in PI. I know, that's sad. lol
