Ok... that's from PJ Harvey though I don't know the song or album. Hey is info gathering considered cheating? Wait I see now that Sheila has already bragged about cheating. Well anyway... ha now I know why I (kinda) remembered it - I heard it cause once I wanted to hear another song on the album, Highway 61 Revisited...
...the song in question is "Man-size sextet." And yeah, i cheated but hey it's been lingering here now for some time.
This is from an artist whose recording career began at some point during the current century.

I love her album, 'The Milk-Eyed Mender'! Max

Yep, I do love Joanna (and Regina) Ok, here's my turn. (It's from the early '70's): It's coming on christmas, They're cutting down trees. They're putting up reindeer and singing songs of joy and peace.

Moving on, another classic singer/songwriter... and a more disturbing one... "leave it all, and like a man, come back to nothing special such as waiting rooms and ticket lines, and silver bullet suicides, and messianic ocean tides, and racial roller-coaster rides, and other forms of boredom advertised as poetry."

Leonard Cohen - Field Commander Cohen
Xanadu, have you seen Len's Austin City Limits show? It's very good, and I particularly like Len's rapport with Julie and Perla (the backing singers) - it's... just so very Len.
I'm busy thinking up one now...
Well here it is!
80's, out of tune singer...
A nightmare of you Of death in the pool Wakes me up at quarter to three I'm lying on the floor of the night before With a stranger lying next to me

Now me: "There's one thing that you gotta do To make me still want you " "Gotta stop sobbing now...yeah, stop it, stop it, stop sobbing now... The Kinks, or The Pretenders... did you know that Chrissie Hynde was with Ray Davies, at least briefly. Moving on... "Seasons change with the scenery; Weaving time in a tapestry. Won't you stop and remember me..."

I only have the documentary with some live footage. Do you like the later material too? I haven't gotten the most recent album, but I did like Ten New Songs. Now me: "There's one thing that you gotta do To make me still want you " "Gotta stop sobbing now...yeah, stop it, stop it, stop sobbing now... "Seasons change with the scenery; Weaving time in a tapestry. Won't you stop and remember me..."

of later.... the Bangels-A Hazy Shade Of WinterI hadn't thought of that.... my hint was more directed at the singer/songwriter mention of Leonard Cohen in my previous trivia question, which then would have been Simon & Garfunkel ;D but it'll do, nevertheless... ;D
