i recently got into her and her work is really brilliant, check her latest album to be released "when the pawn" fiona has recorded another album "extraordinary machine" and finished it on 2003 but her record company shelving it because they are saying it's too experiemental. the album has leaked all over the net, i heard it and it's really great and it's not so uncommercial like her label says. A group of fans organized a campaign to release the album to stores. if you want to sign a petition or donate here's the address: www.freefiona.com

Experimental was Sgt Pepper, Pet Sounds, Dark Side of the Moon, Tubular Bells & The Dreaming for God's sake. Plus many more I don't doubt.. Don't these people ever learn? If they had sufficient confidence in the artist to sign them up in the first place.. They deserve the slow descent into obscurity they have already started down. Let's hope they don't take all the talent with them..

Enjoy the rarities when you can. The planets must align properly it seems for money guys to get their collective heads out of their as$es'. That, or have an artist that can do it all like Kate. Which is even more rare.

I'm sure you're right Mat. Kate did at least have 3 perfectly commercial albums under her belt, so I guess EMI were reluctantly prepared to take a chance. Had The Dreaming been her 1st album though, well could have been a different story.. The irony is, that record companies go on to take great retrospective pride in 'ground breaking' recordings made on their label, despite kicking up like crazy when the artist first brings it to them.

Fiona is great! She is my favourite artist to listen to when I'm angry- she always helps.
