I bought one of Celine Dion's albums about 6 months ago - All The Way, A Decade of Song. It's probably my first proper experience of her music other than the odd song here and there on the radio. She really is amazing. Could anyone recommend a second album for me to buy? I know she'll probably have loads of albums, just need some advice on which one to go for next

Excuse me folks but Celine is my pet hate. I think she is just about the opposite end of the scale to Kate - I feel a bit rotten saying this as I'm not one to be critical of others taste usually (except my friend who likes ABBA for Gods sake!!!) but somehow it kind of amazes me how diverse musical tastes can be - yet we all have the same common denominator of Kate. I think it all began with "I know that my life will go oooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn".............yahhhhhhhh! Forgive me..................... RA

I've described you as a 'huge' Alanis fan and been busted for lack of specificity. i.e. neither you, Alanis or Celine are in fact huge. ;D 'Hilarious thought though.

She lost me at Fah....I too do not want to appear snobbish here. Celine has some of the clearest and most powerful pipes in the music industry. She has a tremendous and loyal fan base. Her success in the charts and her remarkable track record in Las Vegas speaks volumes about her skills. Yet she does not connect with me. My loss maybe?? Of main stream singer's I prefer Sarah Brightman, Emmy Lou Harris or Linda Rondstat over Celine, Mariah and Christine. (whom all have voices beyond reproach) However, most of my favorite female vocalists exist outside the mainstream boundries - Kate, Loreena McKennitt, K.D. Lang, P.J. Harvey and so on...

In some ways I admit to admiring her. She seems to have taken the safe route through the business and is reeping those rewards. But at her age and at this stage in her career there's no way she should be performing in the successful artists benevolent home that is Las Vegas.
I'd love to see her taking a few chances - releasing something contemporary, perhaps even dangerous.. Hook up with a songwriter who has something to say about the world..
Actually I quite liked her Titanic song, allbeit hokum or factotum..
I agree that whatever she is - isn't - want's to be - should be - that's an amazing voice. Celebrate her for that if nothing else.
Epic teeth - great surgery.. ;D

....at her age and at this stage in her career there's no way she should be performing in the successful artists benevolent home that is Las Vegas. A career choice consistant with her other choices. Security seems to be an issue with her. e.g. marrying a father-figure - not taking creative risks etc. Vegas can provide her with long-time security with a lucrative arrangement. She will have to settle for singing the same songs over and over to drunks and newly weds. Me too. But that doesn't seem likely. There are times when she can evoke a thrilling sensation from me though the sheer strength of her voice. It's just the material and presentation that's hard for me to latch on to.

Ok thanks Sto'. Think I'll try that one.
I hate the 'Titanic' song too. But I really do think she has an amazing voice. So clear and powerful as Al already said. As I said, I only have one of her albums so far and I've fell in love with some songs already.
I do have a really random selection of music I love, but I love the variety.
