The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson have been a major influence on the British music scene for years and the recent resurrection of SMilE led me to finallly go see Brian last Summer - an experience I will never forget.
I had seen the Beach Boys in the 70s and was untouched by the experience of that time. They seemed, quite literally, washed up and were touring (as we all know) without Brian.
I was so blow away by his story and recent documentaries abou this life, and finally seeing this 'survivor' pour out such soul and beauty from his inner being was wonderful.
I'm seeing him at Hampton Court again this June. Can't wait!
Anyone else love our Bri ?

Hi RA. I posted something on Brian and the release of the legandary Smile a few months ago, on Other Topics.. "Smile, it's Brian Wilson" or something like. No-one was biting though.
I wouldn't describe myself as a Brian Wilson fan, but I've followed his legend over the years and know the story of Smile, 35+ years in the making.. (puts Kate's new album in perspective - being only a mere 12 yrs.. assuming it 's released this year as promised).
It's good to see him comparatively healthy again, if a little fragile still.
Smile is of course the masterpiece that it always threatened to be, and Brian is again (if anyone needed reminding) revealed to be a brilliant and unique talent, both as a writer and especially as an arranger.
I saw the televised concert (fantastic band he'd assembled) but couldn't actually get past the wow factor of seeing and hearing Smile for the first time in it's completed form, to appreciate the emotional dynamic of the music. That will come for me I'm sure.
Nice to see someone else who's recognised the significance of Brian's re-emergence and the release of this legendary work.

I have been a reluctant admirer of Brian Wilson's artistry also. A troubled and sensitive genius; he is capable of seeing and hearing deep truth and emotion. How ever flawed he may have been, he has shared some wonderful gifts with us.

Adey and Al
To be truthful I'd seen Brian on the Golden Jubilee in London and was taken aback by how ill he looked - nonetheless, it rekindled my interest in his story.
Some (what I call REAL fans) friends of mine, had a spare ticket last year so I went along to 'fill in'. It was one of the best shows I've seen in my life - it knocked me out and then the documentaries and concert from RFH just kept bowling me over.
The band "The Wondermints" I think helped Brian onto the road to salvation. Brilliant brilliant musicians.
