I have a Happy Rhodes song called "When the Rain Came Down." It's an incredible song. She has a range of vocals from high Kate Bush to low Annie Lennox! And uses them both in this song. She also has a pretty good live version of Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes." My question is: if anyone here owns any of her music? What's it like and what should I start with? Is she an original artist, or maybe just a b-grade Kate Bush? Anyone?

I have only recently heard Happy Rhodes' work. She has real talent, but has yet to spark a real interest. I wouldn't call her B-grade. Just not my cup of tea....yet

Have you heard that song? I came across her in a strange way. I was on Mactella looking for the Fruitopia commercials and came across a song called "When the Rain Came Down" listed as Annie Lennox with Kate Bush guest. I though well maybe this is something I hadn't heard of, so I tried to get it, but every version cut off. But by this time I had heard about 3 minutes of it, and it was wonderful and really sounded like Kate. So I kept looking for a complete version and finally downloaded it entirely, with Happy Rhodes as the singer. Confused still at this point, since it sounds like 2 singers, I looked up her website. She has been around for a while and is sort of a singer/songwriter American version of Kate Bush & Annie Lennox. I have been thinking about tracking down a few of her albums, but most are out of print and the one I want, ECHO, goes for more than I want to spend on Ebay. So, I was looking for some encouragement to go out on a limb here. I'm not usually too successful once out there, (I've got quite a few CDs that have been listened to once!) so I need some guidance!

Yeah, I was searching for rare Kate songs and came across that one too, and after listening to it I actually thought that from 1:14 - 1:43 was Kate but found out a while later that it wasn't, and that the whole song was sang by the same person
