The title track on "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" is absolute poetry. I love it almost as much as Kate's "My Lagan Love." I can't speak to Sinead's version being better - I haven't heard it yet, but the Kate version is one of my favorite songs, so it will be hard to beat. The entire album is incredible. Any other comments? And anyone seen the famous video of the Prince song "Nothing Compares 2 U"? Her emotion is so raw, I'm nearly in tears! I also love "Am I Not Your Girl?" which is a collection of covers of songs she enjoyed and wanted to perform. You wouldn't think that she could do an album of "standards," but she really adds a depth of performance to several songs. Lastly, before I ramble on any further... "BLOOD OF EDEN"... need I say more? I await some other thoughts... ;D

Talking of Sinead O'Connor, have you seen the 1992 Paramount Pictures version of Wuthering Heights starring Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes? I swear the opening scene of Emily Bronte is played by Sinead although there is no credit given for the part of Bronte.
Also, the solo whistle is played by Davy Spillane who has played on several of Kate's albums. For me this is spooky and exciting. You'll see why when you read the extracts from my book.

Hey while I'm formulating a response to the Alison Moyet thread (you're right "HooDoo" is a bit bluesy) I'd like to continue with this line of comment. I just returned from a banquet, so this will be short (I'm really tired) Today I purchased (again ) the "Two Rooms" tribute to Elton John. Sinead O'Connor's cover of "No Sacrifice" was INCREDIBLE (as was Kate's "Rocket Man", so Dobb, no need for embarassment ) I had forgotten how powerfully Ms O'Connor delivered on this song. All of you who have this CD just for Kate's song, should listen to Sinead on here as well. It is beautiful if not tear-jerking. (much like you mentioned, Zan, on her cover of "Nothing Compares...") I've also ordered (again ) Celtic Heartbeat II. I can't wait to hear Sinead O'Connor's live version of "He Walked Through The Fair" Has anyone else given this a good listen? Finally, "Her Mantle So Green" from "Sean-Nos Nua" is one more of my favorites of her's. This album is full of Traditional Irish folksongs. Therein is her much played rendition of "My Lagan Love".
