Sorry, I just have to post this. Every time I see Sto's name, it just makes me think of this song. It sends shivers right down my spine. I'm posting the lyrics for anyone who doesn't know it. I dare you not to love it.
Alanis Morissette -- Uninvited
Like anyone would be I am flattered by your fascination with me
Like any hotblooded human I have simply wanted an object to crave
But you You're not allowed You're uninvited An unfortunate slight
Must be strangely exciting To watch the stoic squirm Must be somewhat heartening to watch shepherd meet shepherd
But you You're not allowed You're uninvited An unfortunate slight
Like any uncharted territory I must seem greatly intriguing You speak of my love like you have experienced love like mine before
But this is not allowed You're uninvited An unfortunate slight
I don't think you unworthy I need a moment to deliberate

This is a totally amazing song. The lyrics, the excitement of the music, the Indian influence, the reflection at the end...it's definitely my favourite Alanis song. Have you heard the original Dan, or just the version on "Unplugged"? By the way, I signed up to your message board this morning, but haven't got a confirmation e-mail as yet...

Well Alanis was the first artist I ever got into - when I was 8! I remember showing my parents the lyrics to "You Oughta Know" and wondering why they looked slightly shocked! You *can* download clips of the new album from the Internet - but I did that with "Under Rug Swept" and it really ruined for me the whole experience when I got the actual CD. I don't recommend it - I'm certainly waiting for it to come out before I hear it this time!

Yeah, I did that with some of the tracks for Ani DiFranco's new album out a week tomorrow and it's sort of ruined it already. I'm impressed, but I should've waited. Damnit Dan!

I haven't listened to Alanis for a while. I have her first two CDs somewhere. I should put them on tonight just for old times sake.

Hehe, good idea august! Although "Jagged Little Pill" is her most successful album, her second one "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" (a bit of a mouthful...) is my favourite. It's so diverse and doesn't follows hardly musical conventions, a little like our Kate. And I hope Kate 8 is as long as "SFIJ" - 17 tracks!

Supposed Former... my God... such a drool-worthy album I got it for my birthday a couple of years back, and listened to about half of it. "The Couch" and "Can't Not" had me entranced for months on end...

It's funny, I couldn't get into "The Couch" for months and months, but now it's one of my favourites! Exactly the same happened to me with "The Song Of Solomon"...but then I'm always really bad at first impressions OK, since we're kind of on the subject , my top 5 Alanis songs: 5. I Was Hoping 4. Forgiven 3. Joining You 2. That Particular Time 1. Uninvited The only one I'm not too keen on is "Flinch", I find it boring and too long

Yay! I'm glad you're a "URS" fan, it's so under-rated... You know, I nearly put "No Pressure Over Cappucinno" at number 5, but it just got pipped to the post. I wish she'd made a studio version of that song, it's just so delicate and beautiful. And what a killer song title! Why didn't she release "21 Things..."?!

God I know! "21 Things..." is not only an amazing song, but would've been a complete success!!
Hands Clean was a good choice too I think, but it was really overlooked. It's a helluva song!

Yeah, considering how controversial the subject matter of "Hands Clean" is, I'm surprised it didn't get more attention. It would be a bit like Kate releasing "The Infant Kiss"! I just feel sorry for Alanis's boyfriends, if they put a foot out of line, they get a song like "You Oughta Know" written about them
