LOL, I didn't want to say anything, but the 'being a big Alanis Morissette' did make me laugh What an odd mental image

Actually, unless he's about 18 stone & 6ft 5, he's not a big fan of Alanis Morrisette either.. 3rd edit today? OK then, how about "The modestly proportioned Sto, was known to be a great admirer of Alanis Morrisette.. "j/k

Granted I did leave out a well placed ''of'', however, I prefer my informal context to the verbose and presumptious suggestion of your's.

And U2 from the above lists. Of course, like Al, I think I have made some list here before of my faves. SoundGallery, you must like Julee Cruise (Badalamenti reference)? If you do, are you on the forum? I love here. Some members her who like the ethereal creepiness of Kate's sound would like her, like Night Scented Stock. Her vocals literally float in the darkness. i do like julie cruise alot. i havent checked out her site. i will do that. angelo badalamenti is a genius!!!

Sto... My favourite Alanis songs are probably You Oughta Know and Ironic, but I love the whole Jagged Little Pill album. She's re-releasing "Jagged Little Pill" next year with extra tracks to celebrate its 10th birthday. I'm more of a "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" man myself!

Pat Metheny is a multi Grammy Award winner and highly respected artist. He was a collaborator and friend of one of my favorite artist's - Jaco Pastorius. He in fact did a song in his memory.
As other's here know, I have strong jazz proclivities. PMG fits into the fusion category that most appeals to me. Metheny is an excellent guitarist and proficient in other instruments as well. If you like Pat Metheny, check these artist's out:
Lee Ritenour Steve Khan Michael Columbier Steely Dan Chick Corea & Return to Forever Weather Report Jaco Pastorius.
If you go online to CD Universe, you can hear samples from all of these, including PMG"s other work.

Strangely enough, the Pat Metheny Group are best known in the UK for the haunting duet This is Not America, recorded with David Bowie.
Not the first time that a major artist has gone outside of their usual style and had a major commercial success..

Well, here I go, proving I'm a true old fart but with a very hip personality of course! Let's see if anyone knows some of my old favs (sure ya do)!!
Todd Rundgren (top of the list) Kate, Peter G, and Eno (also my favs) will undoubtedly have major respect for this guy - another point of reference is that he is Liv Tyler's step-dad. Quite a link here to the early Laura Nyro/Carole King vib thing.
Mike Keneally (ex Frank Zappa band) - amazing song writer and musician - anything from Jazz to heavy rock to beautiful ballads.
The Finn Brothers - or Crowded House. Very Beatlesque at times but certainly a favourite - and hey the Beatles were fab!
OK something a bit more modern - Goldfrapp (a relative new discovery) but I like the little red riding hood references and the feeling that they read Hans Christian Anderson at bedtime. Fee Fye Fo Fum......
Rufus Wainwright - watch this guy. You'll be amazed and he's a beaut ! Camp it up Rufus.
Anyway, I have many, but those are the ones playing on my CD in the KA right now.
;D

Glad you likey ! I belong to Todd Rundgren Connections and Patronet and am also a regular listener to Radio Keneally. My current favourite of Mike's is Dancing and with Todd it varies so much that I can't chose. If you listen to New York Tenderberry then you'll definately hear the resemblance to Kate on some of the tracks - especially Captain for Dark Mornings. For any younger Kate fans that may not have heard, please take a listen on the link I am posting here. Although I'm sure it's be spoken of before. www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000068QZP/103-4030513-4451857?v=glanceWhich do you listen to?

My favorites: Pink Floyd The Beatles Jethro Tull Stevie Wonder Tori Amos Kate Bush Bjork Joni Mitchell RHCP Pat Matheney Group
Unlike other fans, I discovered kate bush after i discovered Tori and i doesn't understands why people say that they are very similar. there are some similarities but in the end they developed very different from each other musically and lyrically.
