I can't stop listening to Willow's Song from The Wicker Man. It's weirdly seductive. Oh yes indeed.. You'd be lucky to find a more bawdy, earthy and provocative little number. Actually I love all of the music from this incredible film, especially the song over the titles and the song about the maypole dancing - " and on this bed, there was a girl, and on this girl there was a man.." etc. The original Wicker Man is having a limited cinema release over the UK later this month. It is a director's cut and restores 15 mins that certain production barbarians cut from the original release. If you can't get there, check out the deluxe DVD Wicker Man set which features the original and restored Director's cuts and a fascinating documentary. Although I suspect that true devotees of the film will probably already have it!

Yes...Adey is an authority on many fronts. And this rear. I'd like to have claimed 'hands on' experience but, alas...

Cheeky. I remember thinking that her hair was different to Britt's. That's what I was looking at anyway. I read somewhere that most of the lyrics from the songs were poems by Robert Burns. I wonder if this is the same.
I do get a strange urge to bash walls nakedly when I hear it.

"Them Heavy People" - Kate Bush I love the whirling of the dervishes Doesn't 'list' imply more than one song? Here's mine: Third World Man - Steely Dan Razor Boy - Steely Dan Elegant People - Weather Report The Fog - Kate Bush Blow Away - ditto Delius - ditto Maureen - Sade Stronger than Pride - Sade Digging in the Dirt - Peter Gabriel Logical Song - Supertramp

I've been listening to Joanna Newsom's Ys a lot recently- I think I actually might know most of the lyrics by now! I'm really impressed with it. The songs are so complicated and involving, it's a bit like The Dreaming in the sense that I can listen to it repeatedly and still feel as if I'm still uncovering the real meaning of the songs. Also, I've been finding Bjork's Vespertine quite wonderful... that's been my favorite of hers for a while, though. And of course Kate- especially The Dreaming right now. I'm still at that point in my fanhood when I have to listen to at least one one song of hers every day or suffer withdrawal symptoms.

I am using this thread to continue the discussion about favorite poetic influences. Here are some recommended ice breakers: Steely Dan - 'Gaucho' Kate's favorite of their albums and "Peg' which heavily influenced Kate's "Why Should I love You" Weather Report - "Elegant People" (sampled by Portishead). Joni Mitchell - "Free Man in Paris" (the live video with Metheny, Brecker and Pastorius features some of the most talented artists ever assembled ) Billie Holiday - "Strange Fruit" Sinead O'Connor - My Lagan Love (I like her version better than Kate's) and Mna na h Eireann (see video on 'You Tube) Tracey Thorn - "King's Cross (Hot Chip Remix)" Massive Attack - "Karmacoma" (video features 'Tricky - avid Kate Bush fan) Aerial has been compared to some of Massive Attack (most likely the keyboards and atmospherics) Dusty Springfield - "I Only Want to be With You" Nina Simone - "Feeling Good" Radiohead - "Hail to the Thief" Martha Argerich - "Chopin - The Legendary 1965 Recordings" Beth Orton - "Concrete Sky" Siouxie Sioux - Face to Face" Tracey Chapman - "Mountain of Things" K D Lang - "Crying" (Duet with Roy Orbison) Suzanne Vega - "Tom's Diner" (original UK video) Cibo Matto - "Sugar Water" (see the Michael Gondry video ) Milla - (Milla Jovovich) professed Kate fan - all of "Divine Comedy" Happy Rhodes: World's best Kate copy. Brilliant vocalist - see all her videos especially "Dream of Sheep" (Kate cover) and "Mercy Street" (Gabriel cover) This one is AMAZING! - It is so good, I well up whenever I hear it. Most all of these have video links. Just keyword search them please.
