I watched Kate Live at the Hammersmith Odeon for the first time in ages last night, and would like to know who the guy in the red jacket, flying helmet and false nose is who wanders across stage before the song 'Kite' and then does a mime of walking against the wind at the end of the song. I remember at the time of release (yes it's that old a copy!) there was a rumour that it was Peter Gabriel. As there seemed to be only 2 male dancers in the show, and they were dressed alternatively, it seems that whoever it is must have been a 'special guest' Aaah, the trivia of life!

Yeah, I know who yoiu mean. I remember the 'walking into the wind' bit. Can't remember what he looked like though... did you get to see his face? I just assumed it was one of the dancers, or is he on stage at some point with the other two dancers? Sorry I'm not very clear here, but my image of that is quite vague at the moment. However I'd be very suprised if it was Peter Gabriel. If he's not going to reveal himself, then I don't see much point in him doing it. Can anyone clear this up and do a better job than I did? LoL ;D Sorry KLJ

The dancers go off and he comes straight on, there's no time for a costume change and theres no editing cos the band play on throughout. This has been puzzling me for years. You do see his face, but its heavily made up with a false nose. I know Gabriel used to like dressing up and the 'wind walk' isnt actually very good so i dont think its a mime artist or dancer at all. Any more input on this would be greatly appreciated.

It might be Simon Drake (the magician) who appeared in various roles throughout the show.

It might be Simon Drake (the magician) who appeared in various roles throughout the show. I believe this is correct, but I am not sure.

Yes, no question - Simon Drake is the man.. He has largely forsaken mime in his recent shows, focussing mainly on his considerable skills as a stage magician, but he is/was a more than adept practitioner of this art form. He actually did more than this during the shows.. Unfortunately he is perceived by what was included on the video..
