The video for 'The Dreaming' is amazing, but what do you get from it? I mean what do you think Kate's intentions were behind it? MX I've decided to carry on what you started about 'The Dreaming' in the 'Fave Video' section here

LORI,
I am honoured; thank you! ;D
I cannot deconstruct it properly, as I do not have a copy of MS. KATE BUSH'S videoclip anthology to which I might refer. Anthing I said would be working from memory.

The Dreaming: The colonization and industrialization of Australia is the setting of this video (?) The native inhabitants are being sacrificed by political manipulation of warring factions, and by pulling the aboriginal tribes from the bush ('pull of the bush' lyric) to dig for ore. "You find them in the road" (Kangaroos and those mistaken for trees that stand in the way of 'progress') Totally my opinion- I may be way off. Let me know.

Spot on again Altruest, you must be quite a fan. Just how long has our heroine been in your life?

ALTRUEST,
That certainly supports the lyrical content.
Might I recommend playing "THE DREAMING" back-to-back with "THE RHTYHM OF THE HEAT" for a compelling intellectual & visceral experience of the former?

What's 'The Rhythm of the Heat'? It's not a Kate song is it?

I'm anxious to find out as well Lori.
Marktime, I saw Kate Bush On SNL in the late 70's. I later saw her Hammersmith Concert on PBS. But it has been in the last ten years that I have really grown to love her work more and more.

LORI & ALTRUEST,
"THE RHYTHM OF THE HEAT" is a song by MR. PETER GABRIEL from my favourite album of his, PETER GABRIEL: PETER GABRIEL IV (North American title: PETER GABRIEL: "SECURITY").
Track 1, Side A.

Peter Gabriel 3 is the best, and it also contains TWO Kate Bush BV sections...

Yeah, TV, I plan to replace the remaining Peter Gabriel CD's that were stolen from me. Refresh my memory on the BV track other than "Don't Give Up"

I don't know if any of you ever looked up "The Rhythm of the Heat" mentioned here or not, but if you didn't, it's a must. I am currently working on a creating a collection of music of Gabriel and Kate Bush's career. A sort of "thesis" on the evolution of their careers concurrently. "The Dreaming" and "The Rhythm of the Heat" were already on my collection back to back! I must have their entire careers including rare tracks, b-sides and soundtrack material (even the Fruitopia's!) represented there! The other 2 tracks that Kate sings on besides "Don't Give Up" are "Games Without Frontiers" (the female voice singing in French) and "No Self Control" (she's the voice that screams NO SELF CONTROL in the background) After working on this album in collaboration with Gabriel and Phil Collins in the studio, she worked on Never For Ever and thanks Gabriel for "opening the windows" in the liner notes! ;D My husband, being a huge Gabriel/Collins/Genesis fan has told me about the development of Peter 3 in the studio with Collins on drums. They worked on new drumming and programming sounds that are later used in Kate's music (i.e. programmed drums without reverb in "Leave It Open") Just trying to expand your horizons in my direction!
