Just a quick note to comment on my sporadic appearances here of late, and to promote some local am~dram..
I got sucked into rehearsals and now a peformance tour of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, by the local MDCC company, who specialise in the outdoor performance of plays by the Bard. I joined up supposedly to provide lighting & sound technical assistance, but have found myself performing the minor role of Gregory, solo singing in the Ball scene and scene setting as assistant stage manager. Which just goes to show, be carefull what you volunteer for..
The tour is for some 16 odd shows in and around the Midlands, before moving to Wales for a weeks worth of performances in Pembrooke Castle. The most high profile shows will be at the new outdoor "Dell Theatre" in Stratford, courtesy of The Royal Shakespeare Company, who control all performances of his plays in his home town. We are honoured to be the first such group allowed to do so. For the Stratford shows I will be providing all the music live (on a Classical Guitar) as the Company's special performance license for that venue does not allow the use of recorded music. I'm working hard adapting suitable melodies and getting upto speed on a music style and instrument I rarely pick up these days.
Here's a link to a Company website & publicity photo. I'm the (Capulet) bozo on the front/right of the pic. As you can see, Petrina (Director) has based her interpretation in the 1920s.
