An anonymous friend has broached this subject, so let us continue it here. Post your favorite love poems here with proper credit. When submitting original work; please post in red. An ember burning still inside no bellows yet to fan the flame no other soul to share the warmth a habitude of sullen chill
melt away my icy clad now two hearts with ripe desire to bring as one our hidden sparks that join to start a roaring fire.

Love and Danger
Love is sublime It finds beauty within the profane the darkness of which we do not speak is oft all that clears the stale air a breathe of life, a taste of cool death tear a piece of heart away a cutting edge, a tiny offering it seems to feel alive, to proof the soul death hath no sting in being so dishonored yet a victory unshared tis shallow embrace the light exhault life to it's highest form love can find a way.

Thanks folks - you are very brave so I'm going to take a first leap. I've been writing for years but never shared it so to speak. Maybe I shouldn't?
He is my darkness, someone I can crawl to without shame and nestle the storm, and trouble not, in the crook of his arm and dwell the night in the glow of his flame.
My silent angel lives and looks on until I return like a small bird that trembles in the cold, he watches and waits for me to cry and consoles me with his smile.
He lives in a place between the ticking of a clock and the settling of dust in a moonbeam. I find him in the breeze from the sea through an open window.
At one, complete, we speak the eternal language of those linked by metal forces struck by Gods with golden halos and eyes that hold no sadness.
Love lies without, and unreal, and dies in the faces of strangers who hold no dreams, but is found in the light and the simple stillness of a Summers day.

Iago, Altruest and RA, (and I mustn't forget Cathy and Xan on other threads), you demonstrate what is best about us. Our ability to transcend perceptions of an apparently hum drum world and turn it into a world filled with magic, intriugue and passion.
I take my hat off to you and anyone else who is prepared to bare their soul and appear "naked." You have my utmost respect. And I am sure you also grow in the process.

Al and Neo - yep, there is a first time for everything. I guess my view is that poetry is so very personal. As I'm growing older I don't feel so ashmed of what's in my heart I guess. Thanks for letting me share it. RA

Damaged Goods
Who now will ever have me that could truly see these scars a fragile spirit crumpled a faint and dying star.

I search the halls to pass my blood, yet all I see dilutes this love fulfilled. I come near, competing factions hone in with furtile ground. Yet this is not the one; she hovers like a star faery, real, yet ethereal and always beyond reach: My Love.
Why do you wait? Your pulse sends reasons to extend. Let go....for fear beyond your starlit gaze enchants me. Stand back, I feel your heart is breaking. Such love just cannot be unless....your soul is sold to the lowest bidder.
Nowt is more than you can afford my beauty. Relax, for whatever means at our disposal we draw, sweet restraint is our eternal dowry.

Well done NEO. Your best efforts come from the heart.

And alas from the bottle! A man who rarely drinks is smashed and maudling. I think I'll crash and regret it in the morning.

Michael's Lament
vibrant and vital no more to me her face drawn now unsightly yet when will I have rest and peace her death would bring new life to me
how long must I sustain this tie I must move on and she must die to preserve the peace and acquiesce means that she or I shall have no rest
my love for her was once so true those days are now but just a dream my cross to bear is mine alone please take her now to her final home
to know my heart is not your right you've come so far to force this fight hate me now and forevermore but tis unknown what you abhor
My wilting rose now wastes away and dies by means so lacking grace Yet it only exacerbates my guilt and you'll not see beneath my face.

OK I am getting a bit braver - second poem I've ever let anyone see............yikes........... RA I love to hate the way he walks A step in front of me If I should stop he’d look around To take a look and see If I’m still there beside his side Albeit at a pace, that sets our world To fate’s cruel hand and looks us in the face
As one we’re linked and yet apart We’re doomed to meet our maker The truth it lies within our hearts, The devil is the faker The wheel it turns our lives around And takes us to conclusion, yet as we know The book has told that life is an illusion
I love to hate the things he does I’ve met him once before He looks at me and in his eyes I see the hidden door The journey has been set in clouds That float upon a jet stream I reach and try to find his hand Like lovers in a mad dream
Be still and don’t hate my love

Nice to see you busy here Laura. The results of your hesitant inclusion are entirely justified. For me, poetry from the heart is the most demanding of all. It is not enough just to understand form and structure - that alone won't do it. Fraudulent emotion is too quickly revealed. The real deal will always stand up almost regardless of the traditional language skills available to the author.. Surely it can be no co-incidence that the many able poets here are all admirers of Kate Bush? Anyone?

It is not enough just to understand form and structure - that alone won't do it. Fraudulent emotion is too quickly revealed. I concur. Question my skill but not my sincerity. I'm so glad Laura, along with Cathy NEO and Adey, has joined in on this board. I'll try. I don't believe it is coincidence. How I'm moved, how you move me with your beauty's potency you give me life.....
Just like a photograph I pick you up Just like a station on the radio I pick you up Just like a face in the crowd I pick you up Just like the feeling that your sending out I pick you upThe people here, pick up this signal. When you've been moved by it, sharing is the next step. It is liberating and scary at the same time. Give me life....

Swordswallowing
Humor is truth like a knife with two blades it cuts through the fat and again in touche the unvarnished truth when delivered with hate is no match for the swordsmith's swashbuckling fate.
Pretend to be learned or serious you can be demanding or spiteful we all understand but to be witty and sardonic is still such an art with pretense and convention you can't play the part
