Some board members enquired about the musical fantasy written by myself and my collaborator. The promotional website for it is up and running finally. Check out some of the songs on: corbentheatre.comLook for the plot synopsis if you want to know what the story is about. Cheers, all. Hope you enjoy.

Adey, I'm very impressed. Having read the synopsis, it is obvious that much thought and creative energy have gone into this project. Please share more about the process and your collaborator.

Adey, I'm very impressed. Having read the synopsis, it is obvious that much thought and creative energy have gone into this project. Please share more about the process and your collaborator. AT, if you go back to the web home page, you can move through the site to discover quite a bit about the process. Select "The Show" then "1st Peformance". On that screen, select "The Music" to 'meet' me and learn about how we created the music/songs, or select "Images" to 'meet' Kevin Corry - my collaborator and learn about our use of video in the performance. Both destinations will also give you a bit of history on the project. I met Kevin, 11 years ago when he joined the band I had formed at the time. He is an unschooled musician and a very fine elec guitarist of Gilmour/Gary Moore standard. He also sings, dabbles on keyboards and is struggling with a Yamaha Wind Synth. He is a business consultant specialising in internet database utilisation. He is a computer whizz and 'drives' the PC when we are recording/sequencing. Kevin has a serious appetite for software and learns what he needs out of programmes at an alarming rate. Given that we used 4 new (to us) packages just to create/sequence and manipulate video & stills and to create CGI sequences [artificial landscapes/moving seas/digital characters etc], those skills were essential. The process has been chaotic at times if I'm honest, and reflects just how poorly we planned the project. We were learning on the fly, acquiring stuff as we needed it, and trying to do everything at once. This included bumping heads with Kevin's wife who wrote much of the story and all of the script. From 1st idea to 1st performances in a theatre, we worked on the project for approx 1300 hours. Then we spent another 6 months preparing the musical in a pre-packaged form for other theatre groups to acquire and perform - what we call "A Musical in a Box". We had to set up our own company, Corben Theatre Ltd, to properly manage this side of it. This has been a real pain as it means we've had no time to develop any new work and I regret that intensely. Very roughly, the process broke down like this: The idea - Concepts/Story Development - Technical Needs (PC, acquisition and familiarity with software) - Song Writing/Incidental Music - Review/Re-organisation (we introduced video projection and had to rewrite the script) - More Technical Development - Video Work (filming people/models, photography & CGI stuff) - More Incidental Music - Arts Council Grant Application (refused!) - Theatre Stage Development - Finding/Working with Cast - Rehearsals - Recording Song Performances for CD Souvenir - Backstage (basic props/costumes/video screen & projection experiments in theatre) - 2 Performances - Review - Development of Musical in a Box - Establishing the Company - Advertising and Negotiation with Major Theatre Companies. So that's about it. Both working full time as well and all entirely self funded! (I'm not brave enough to calculate what it's cost - estimate £5000) We are fortunate to have supportive partners who became heavily involved as we moved towards performances. We are just starting work on another multi-media style project, based around the story of the Titanic, it's passengers and crew. As we've learned so much, I hope this will take half the time and half the money! I didn't mean to waffle on for this long. Hope this was the sort of information you wanted to get at.

Apologies to anyone struggling with my website. I think I've finally ironed out the glitches. If you find another, don't tell me - I'm close to the edge with it!

The website looks great and the musical is very intriging! Unfortuneatly I cannot hear the songs. Something is wrong with my computer. I either get sight or sound but not both. It would be great to see a production of it!

Thanks for making the effort Sheila, I know it's a big site to get 'round - listen to the song snippets if you get your PC working.
Believe me, I'd love to tour it round the States, but there's that small matter of earning a living...
