As we've grown rapidly over the last several months it occured to me (after reading the rules at other forums) that we may want to clarify what we all expect out of this forum. Please chose one of the above. However, say as much as you'd like to in your comments.

Perhaps I should've waited for others to respond first; but, I happen to like the fact that we are free spirited and less formal than some other boards and wanted to say so on the front end. I voted to keep things the way they are. I believe we address things as they arise - that we are fair minded - and that each issue should be handled uniquely. We've yet to ban anyone, but we seem to keep the member's that share our outlook. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I think a "Rules" post might be a reasonable idea. Just saying, behave yourself, bascially, and don't pick on any members. I don't like the idea of limiting the subject matter of our chats at all and I certainly don't think it's neccessary. But apart from that, everything's fine the way it is really!

I think a "Rules" post might be a reasonable idea. Just saying, behave yourself....... Good point. I especially like you saying: I read where another forum (that shall remain nameless ) actually forbids or discourages controversy about religion or politics etc. How can you discuss art without addressing it's impact? You must trust in ideas and share what you feel. Otherwise you're just a worship and news service.....boring

I put my marker down for addressing concerns as they come up. Nobody likes to see things fester or cancers given the chance to grow. That will be easier to achieve now that each of the main boards has another moderator supporting Lori, who can't be expected to catch everything.. I like the Political and the Philosophical rants - tells me more about the people here than their Kate comments ever could. Oh, and please please please no mission statement! I'd hate for us to get too formal.

I'll have to agree with Sto here. I voted for a rules thread because that was really all the fit my thoughts. However, I guess a basic moral guideline would be of more use. I really hate the idea of having to keep control and formal rules, but I suppose they are necessary at times. A main board for reference in times of trouble. I'll move some ideas to the staff room for more detail.

I put my marker down for addressing concerns as they come up. Eh...you may have meant to Adey, but there's no vote cast for that selection. ;D I'm also comfortable with this answer, as it is what we've been doing all along. However, Sto' and Zan make some good points about having some guidelines. Thank goodness, After reading that rant's are verboten at another forum, I really wondered if we (especially me) came off as irritating or creepy. I agree 100% ;D

I quite like it how it is, without too many restrictions, like on rants etc, more interesting conversations develop These are the things that seperate us from most other forums. By discouraging controversy, a forum becomes predictable and cliquish. A sometimes prevalent condescending attitude is also a by-product of restriction on some other boards. What may appear as discernment is often only haughtiness.
