Hi Mat. The very best of luck with your promotion project for starters. I took a look and had a listen. The stand-out track for me both musically and lyrically is "The Flood". The other three tracks are probably growers although I did find "Traveloque" to be the most catching of these. You mention Radiohead as one of your influences. I think this is quite apparent in "Shine on". I think that I have very similar musical taste to you. Radiohead, Bjork and of course Kate Bush would be three of my top five artists.

thanks for the comments. yes, "The Flood" is indeed kind of my stand-out track in my catalogue, "Shine On" is actually more influenced by tori amos then radiohead, i think, but still my music has lots of influences, i don't think i sound like any of the artists i mentione

You misspelled "Joni." I was pleasantly surprised at being able to hear the songs - pretty much a first for my attempts at hearing myspace stored music. OK, overall: I like your voice, and also your manner of singing; you don't try to do too very much, which is probably a good thing. Are you playing the instruments? ehh... for that matter, it is you singing, isn't it? The artist I was most reminded of while listening to your songs was Brian Eno - musically anyway, though not lyrically. The songs are rather similar in subject matter - is this true of your songs in general? The lyrics don't jump out at me - do you mean for them to? The individual songs: "Shine On" - I prefer more beat and less aesthetics; this being the most frequent criticism I have of alt music. The song reminds me of Gregorian monks, except that I generally like Gregorian monks - perhaps this is mostly due to the perceptions I bring to the music. "The Flood" - I like the drums (ehh... are there drums here?) It's rather subtle, whatever it is I'm hearing, and I'm not sure if it is drums or some other instrument. (It would help if both speakers happened to be working - the cat got to it again.) "Travelogue" - Why back home rather than home? Since there is "no God" I assume it's not a reference to the garden of Eden or of anything similar... so, what is home? If this is something to be answered individually then nevermind... except I would still wonder why it's exclusively back home. "Aftershock" - This is my favorite. I'd like to download it to my computer but despite there being a "download" option I have been unable to figure out how I can do so. Do you know how this is done? There are grammatical oddities - I am guessing that they are errors though perhaps you intend for them to be there: "why does suddenly everything around me goes black?" "did you knew the lawyer's wife" I'd like for this one to be longer, and for it to not end on the "go/goes black" line which just seems too tidy to me. I like this one a lot.

I like this one a lot. thanks for the comments, i corrected the misspelings and gramar in Aftershock, like you said. i can't figure out how to download songs in MySpace either, but you can always download my songs here, though you'll need to register to download them. i actually never heard Eno's solo work, only his works with david bowie and he never really influenced me. yes, it's me singing on all the tracks and i did all the backing tracks too, though you can't really call it "playing" because all the sounds you are hearing came from my computer, but i did play them through my midi keyboard

i actually never heard Eno's solo work, only his works with david bowie and he never really influenced me. Eno is another artist who quibbled a bit with the term 'musician' when it was applied to himself. OK I didn't actually use the term here - but I could have without changing the intent. Really, there are a great many "artists" who, unlike you, never/only rarely write their own songs - and some of them achieve critical success in addition to selling a lot of records. So, while it's good to not get too big a head... you're actually playing. Well, I felt this should be said. btw, it's possible that you have actually heard Eno's work - he wrote and played the Windows '95 startup jingle. Here is something I found that is attributed to Eno: "The agency said, 'We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah-blah, da-da-da, optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional,' this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said 'and it must be 3 1/4 seconds long.' I thought this was so funny..." I'm not sure what exactly this means - you are not simply singing over an already complete musical composition, are you? I am guessing this means that you arranged the sounds yourself - is this correct?

There is a new photo at last fm to which there was a comment made that it is a promo for her next album - I just went to the site to look at the pic again but at this time none of the tori images are loading. Yeah, it seemed fine... but i really didn't see that it merited the raving it was attracting. I just noticed that there are European tour dates listed.
