Haha, every time I hear it now, I think of you That's so wonderful, RT! Thanks for sharing that. I'll have to listen to that song, now that you have brought it to my attention. By the way, isn't amazing to know that someone is thinking about you thousands of miles away that you haven't met! It's really incredible. Many of you have changed or affected that way I think about songs, or at the very least, I'll think about you. RT: "Cause I am a rocket on fire. Look at me go, with my tail on fire..." Sto: "And I'll do it for you..." Sheila: "In my dome of ivory..." Neo: "I want you as the dream, not the reality..." Al: "Just one thing in it: me or him, and I love life!" Adey: "Little light shining..." And many, many more. These were just the few that lept to mind. Actually got chills for Sto Wednesday while listening to SOS. Some of these are in my top 10 fave songs, others aren't. But I'll think about them from your point of view, and it brings something new to it. Does this happen to anyone else? Just me? I'll try to think of more. But, I guess the question is: Have we effected one another at all, or in any way? I think for me the answer is "yes" on many levels... Even if it's only that RT thinks of me for this Tori Amos song (which is very cool;)), or Sto remembers I like Gabriel, or you catch the film Xanadu on cable. ;D

Yes I can see what you're driving at Xan. I do remember those personal texts and relate them back to the regulars on the Board. Like AT, I now also associate the images with the people too. In fact it's really disconcerting when someone amends their profile and changes them.
I shouldn't say this, but I also have mental images of what the regulars look like - perhaps I'm twisted, but they're not always flattering. Perhaps if I happen to be posting after a half a gallon of beer one Sunday night, I'll share the images.... and reap the whirlwind on the following Monday!
With regards to songs, I think of Xan when I hear Xanadu by Rush, from Farewell to Kings (I think). The price you pay for having a distinctive username I guess..

Yes Adey, it is from Farewell to Kings (which reminds me, I really need to buy some Rush. They're a band that I like, but I'm lacking in any material.) Another song called Xanadu springs to mind at the moment... 'Xanadu' by..... Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mitch and Titch. ;D There is a Red Dwarf Joke in here that Adey should know about

Sto: "And I'll do it for you..." I couldn't think of anything better to be associated with! What exactly did you mean when you said you got chills for me though?! I have a mental image of you picturing me and shuddering from dread... Whenever I pass the "G" section at HMV and see Peter I do think of you Zan! And of course I also always think of you in English lessons when we do poetry and I pass "Kubla Khan" in my anthology. I went through a Coleridge phase but actually I haven't read anything by him for a while. I'm currently really into Louis MacNeice: do you know anything by him Zan? I have no idea how famous he is...

I couldn't think of anything better to be associated with! What exactly did you mean when you said you got chills for me though?! I have a mental image of you picturing me and shuddering from dread... No, no, not chills from dread silly! Chills or tingles about how wonderful it is. Am I the only one that gets tingles/chills/or goosebumps at my favorite parts of anything? Songs or films, whatever? I get so emotionally moved sometimes, I actually visually shudder, and someone nearby asks if I'm cold or alright. My husband has long since stopped asking, and wavers between thinking its cool and finding it creepy. It's such a great rush, and I love that I can feel that for some of you at your favorite parts... it's like I see how feel about them now. I'm glad you liked the part I unconsciously selected for you Sto. And, oddly like Sheila, you are like I pictured you, and I think it's a nice picture. That's great, since I think most of the people I know would associate me with Gabriel before Kate (that's these people even knowing who she is ). I can't decide which artist is my fave, I have loved Gabriel longer, but I listen to Kate more often and own more, but I listen to Robert Palmer the most? Who knows? Louis MacNeice..... (accessing.....accessing) ;D I'll have to get back to you on that, having trouble processing that information in the database at the moment. ;D

Neo: "I want you as the dream, not the reality..." Thank you Zan, this does it for me. You certainly have us "understood."

Zan, I get shivery when it's a really amazing line from a song, especially if I relate to it or it touches me, or the music is overpowering. "I'll do it for you..." always does it for me (especailly "I'll be the lily of the valley for you...", don't ask why, it just does) and some of the lines in "Love And Anger" too: "Touch the past and the future"/"Just you wait and see..." are prime examples. But the one that makes me shiver the most is "You're The One": just all of it. Especailly the 'angry' bit ("Just forget it all right!") and the scream, and the "sugar..." which fades the song out at the end. Amazing. And thanks about the picture Louis MacNeice - does "Prayer Before Birth" ring a bell? It's my favourite poem, and the last two lines touch me every time I read them: "Let them not make me a stone and let them not spill me. Otherwise kill me." He uses some really interesting and strong rhythms, like, with reference to being sent out to fight in war: "My treason engendred by traitors beyond me". Investigate him, I think you'll like!
