What a great show. * Foo Fighters perform with Jazz fusion legend Chick Corea. * White Stripes made a lot of noise for just 2 people * P-Funk, Earth, Wind and Fire jam with Outkast * Andre 3000 puts on a hellava show (stole my marching band idea!? he must read from this board. ) Any comments?

P funk, EW&F, and Outkast all on the same stage? And the place didn't burst into flames? That's just TOO MUCH FUNK! I can't wait to see it! I only saw up to Celine Dion (even the microphone didn't want to hear her! ) but my sister taped the rest and I'll watch it tomorrow when I babysit my nephew. I agree about the White Stripes. Excellent! I can't believe how good Patti LaBelle looks. My mom thought it was Queen Latifah! So did Andre sober up by the time he performed? He looked pretty schnockered when he accepted his first award...

[sophista-FUNK!] Yeah he was pretty curt on his first speech... just "Thank You" 'Hey Ya' was awesome. Dressed like psychedelic Native American's, they emerge from the flap of a giant tee-pee to the chanting of hey-ya hey-ya hey-ya. Then they burst into the song with a couple of twists (turntable scratches etc) But the climax was the USC marching band! Tuba's horns and drums! I swear he must of read that here. ;D But he ('Dre) was for sure on task for his performance and the acceptence speech for Album of the Year. He also chastized someone for labeling "Stankonia" as their 1st album. He was pretty cool.

Oh, I know, Al, you thought of it first, right around the time you wrote Wuthering Heights, right?

Don't you think it's more likely tho' that he reads from here, rather than watches old Fleetwood Mac? ;D I suppose you're right. You da man, Al, never doubted it for a nanosecond! ;D I saw the rest of the grammys. Very cool! Hey Ya was excellent! I got my nephew into it to the point he was singing, moshing with me (I taught him moshing. Auntie is so proud! ) and actually doing cartwheels! I'm in so much trouble with my sis if he starts running around his strict Catholic school singing "Shake it like a poloroid picture" ;D At first he held me at Candyland point (in ways more severe than gunpoint) and after insisted we watched Hey Ya 3 times. Once again I have created a monster, just call me Frankenstein (that's pronounced Fronk-en-steen )

I guess this is our exclusive thread. At first the suggestion of a Kate/Outkast collaboration sounded ludacris (pun ) But, I am now quite intrigued by the thought of it. They are much more (especially 'Dre) progressive and experimental than you'd think. Their 3 Grammy year rep could be a great conduit for Kate's music to a whole new generation, and in fact country. "RUTH" only made it to #30 on the charts here (I know you guy's know this ) But, more people need to discover not only her new album, but all her music. BTW her new album is fantastic!! Psych!

Thanks for jumping in Adey. This thread's just gone NUTS! But that's what happens when you leave Al and I to our own devices! ;D ;D ;D Love, Abby Normal
Putting on the Ritz!
Al I agree about at first the Outkast collaboration seemed well, uh, unsavory but I've been listening to that cd a lot lately! It's the most refreshing thang to happen to funk since the great George Clinton if that isn't too bold. Maybe that's a bit bold. but they are great. Aw-right aw-right aw-right aw-right (+ 13 more) "whats cooler than being cool?" I can't hear ya!BTW green works great for me, but now does someone else (Zan) have trouble reading it. ;D I just tried 'Plum' that just may be your signature color. ;D Easy to read, blends with the lilac. That's Ice-Cold.

I appreciate the attempt, Al, but can't do plum. Two reasons. Long story. Very tired. Explain later....
Okay I'll give plum a shot. Al, or anyone who is listening, just heard what sounded like a 9th wave parallel in The Love Below. On "where are my panties" you hear this emotional distance (as well as sonic) "ICE COLD" that is several tracks later repeated in Hey Ya. Reminded me of Kate "Helpmelistentometalktometalktomepleasetalktome" being repeated. Am I off here? Ironic that Dre seems more Kate-like than Big Boi, I know you already said that Al just reaffirming...

Sheila try one of these and see if Zan can see it. I'll be able to read any of these colors: PistachioAquaChartreuseOlivePuceTurquoiseTealLimeOr make up your own. I just came up with all of these own my own (except teal and lime) These are all greens. Or you could go anoither direction.

He also is trying to raise the level with-in the hip-hop genre ("pull up your pants" he admonishes) by introducing jazz and pop grooves along with his "Sophista-Funk" Plus he has an amazing voice. I'll listen for the similarities. Thanks!

(Sorry, I'm in a weird mood). Anyway, on the Grammy topic (a little off, but not too much)... What was up with Sting? Is he wearing a piece or what? He hasn't had that much hair (and golden, mind you) in years! What kind of Jedi-mind trick is he trying to pull, 'cause I'm not buying it. And, I'm surprised, I really enjoyed the Prince performance. Not usually a huge fan, but I think he was the classiest ( ) act there. And Faith Hill was just trying to hard, I could literally see the rod up... Sorry. I was a little disappointed that there was a huge tribute to Warron Zevon, but nothing for Barry White and Robert Palmer. They're both Grammy Awards winning stars too.
